Does it seem to anyone else that Plarium keeps moving the goalposts in Mech Arena? To me it looks like they come out with more pilots and weapons, and occasionally a mech, that makes older items less effective in battle. So I feel like I'm using money or saved or purchased resources just to keep up.Its a treadmill of sorts. I can just stay with what I have, which is a lot really. Surge kicks butt, so do Ares and Panther. Though railgun doesn't bring in the kills like it once did. I'm to the point of thinking of going back to PC gaming. What do y'all think? Is MA too much like a treadmill now? And what about months from now?

This is my perception too. The recent buff to surge makes settling for the KS in your hanger less appealing now. Both are different and yet just similar enough that the buff makes a surge attractive and effective. I’m tiring of AI Surges now.
The new EM rifle is another good example. The railgun you mentioned used to be the holy grail of damage for players. If the vids I’ve seen from YouTubers are accurate there’s something better now.
I don’t think Plarium has reached Pixonic’s level of power creep, but I’m definitely feeling some changes from mere moths ago. I think the AI and match making are contributing a lot to this. I’m starting to get beatdowns from players and those Made-To-Lose matches that have been discussed before. It’s not like this everyday, but it’s happening just enough that it’s noted.
Also, my level 8 weapons often seem considerably less effective than they were last spring and I’m having to adjust expectations and countermeasures while sparing with opponents, AI or otherwise.

Yeah I'm having the same perception with new weapons and buffs. In the other hand, I still feel that my hangar is effective, even though I move at my own rythm.
I don't really feel a rush to have the latest toys as soon as they come out. My strategy is: I'm keeping a fixed limit of what I believe is ok to spend, if at some point I feel that I'm just not enjoying the game because it's too expensive or I cannot get the new meta that makes a huge difference, I will say bye-bye👋.

My KS still has a place in my hangar if only to run RM12. It's still the best RM platform in my mind.
Other than that, yeah definite power creep and is the reason I'm slowing down my spending. Still far from jumping ship, but if another mech game came out now, I'd definitely give it a try.
Ever since pilots came out, there has been a steady power climb. For example, the Arc Torrents used to differ from Carbines in that Carbines were better at range, and the usual tactic was to back away from the AT mech while firing my CBs. But, now that ATs can reach over 60m with little to no damage drop off, CBs are completely obsolete now.
Same thing with GB16. It's way more powerful than my R6 SB16 and I have only leveled it to R5. I think once I clone my GB16, I'm done spending in this game. I was gonna level up my Tengu for some fun, but I think my next mech to work on would be Stalker just because I see so many OP Stalkers out there.

Didn't take long to figure out winning/losing wasn't up to me or my skill. I've since exclusively worked on completing individual bot tasks. My bot dies and it's on to the next with a specific task. Kinda why I don't squad much. Nothing like a teammate with less than optimal equipment. Probably wouldn't affect the outcome vs AI, but ya never know if you're getting a match full of live players.
