So I haven’t got a surge of my own, but from what I’m seeing it seems like they just made a strictly better kill shot.
A thing I love about MA is that the low “tier” bots are still pretty good when upgraded, whereas War Robots likes to says that low tier = progression items intentionally balanced to be worse than high tier (and then reduces previous meta items tiers to accommodate for new meta items…)
Anyway, we kinda all know why pixonic has this tier system (not for progression) but that’s not the point of this post. I want to know if Plarium is developing this same system.
I like how right now in MA T1 Jugg T3 Ares and T4 Aegis are all pretty balanced to compete with eachother. But are surge and KS balanced well, or is surge just better now?
If they are balanced together - that’s a great thing! It means other bots like Redox and Arachnos that desperately need buffs may get some to increase diversity in battle.
If not, this game is headed the same way as War Robots.
Also, I know I’m rambling (haven’t posted in a while) but am I the only one who feels like 80% of the players in my games are bots? I kinda wanna fight actual players, is MA dead?

I think time will tell if Plarium is on the road Pix travels. Otherwise, I think that the recent Surge buff does put some distance between the KS and itself. I’m still leaning toward the opinion that the Surge is balanced, although if you got the right implants and armed it with arc torrents it might not seem so. Killshots are still excellent mechs; fun and skill-based. MA style.
Most of our competition has been AI since I started playing in the development phase. At first I thought, ‘this is different…’ but I sort of appreciate it now. AI competition works when I’m in the mood to blow up red mechs in a chill way. If most of our opponents were human we’d all be complaining about the whales and tankers ruining the fun.

The annoying thing is you are forced into wins and losses.
99% of the time if you are playing solo even if you match up against another player look at the end results.
When you win.. majority of the time look at the 2nd place mech on the losing team and they are at or below the last place mech on your your team. Then when you lose, the same will be true, your 2nd place mech will be at or below the winning teams last place mech.
There are tons of matches where I've had 4+ beacons, 15+ kills.. and I still lose. When the AI wants you to lose, you lose.
I'd almost rather real players more so, I do keep running into OU812 while he has 2 teammates and I'm solo.. so I guess I should be careful with that statement.
Per the surge... the changes are making me save up to get one now.. even how annoyed I am at everything locking me down one after another.. I'm going to join that club just like the RM.

I’ve noticed that with the wins and losses as well. This morning I had three losses in a row where the highest blue AI’s score was lower than red’s worst. Often games like that come in pairs for me and usually after breaks from playing during the day. I call those matches Made-To-Lose.
I wonder why Plarium’s matchmaking rigs it that way? Certainly it would be more interesting if the AI players we’re paired with were comparable on both sides.
I’ve been in the 3 humans vs 1 person matches too. Those can be frustrating at times!

With the bots now using multiple maxed Surge's every game, they are definitely trying to steer us into buying it.

I don't feel like the Surge is balanced anymore. It is extremely powerful now. Even the under leveled TL/SB armed ones are tough. I cannot kill a full HP one with a double RG blast like I used to, and if it dashes and catches me, 9/10 I'm dead.
On the flip side, with cloned AT12 and a maxed Surge, I'm a beast in a brawl. I have pretty good HP (forget how much right now) and I can corner shoot with on AT12 and be able to drain most mechs if not kill damaged or light mechs, and a double stream of AT12 will kill anything.
On a side note, maxed Stalker with Predator Drive and AT12 will erase anything faster than RG16.
So, I feel that the balance of this game is slowly but surely devolving. Some maps are impossible to play if there is a single decent RM12 player on either side. Forget maxed RM12 cause they do well over 100k damage each per salvo.
I've been waiting patiently for SG8 and it finally came on "sale" for like $$. Seeing as how I just splurged on the GR16, I couldn't let myself pull the trigger, especially since I now I have to devote every spare A-coin to level and clone the GR16.
Side note, I faced a dual GR16 Panther and it erased me faster than I could line up my RG16s at it. Freaking things are POWERFUL.
So yeah, balance is going out the window. RM12 is an absolute must in this game now on account it lets you go against powerhouse builds with less powerful mechs. JR8 is losing it's effectiveness, especially against human players. Speed is the name of the game now. You MUST be able to kill your target faster than they can kill you.
