Doesn’t appear to be, although the blue is still a significant improvement fully upgraded.  |

I got the gold AT Range the other day in the daily offers for a-coins.. I haven't done much with it yet since I'm still debating do I wait to get the gold pilot or not?
I haven't really done much with pilots and implants but doesn't it cost to remove if I increased it on a blue/purple pilot to put it on a gold later?

Yes, you’ll lose part of the upgrade costs paid by removing any implant form a pilot. You can pay acoins to lose less, but then you’re losing acoins. I haven’t done a lot with pilots yet either. Upgraded some pilots but left the implants pretty low level till I figure out what I want to commit to build-wise. I did break my rule and purchased an Advanced Implant Crate yesterday for a reduced price. What a waste. Received an epic stasis weapon implant that I already had. I don’t use any stasis weapons. Big waste/lesson learned. |

After each upgrade it becomes more expensive. |

A gold pilot probably would not increase the range but add damage to CQ weapons. CQ weapons are already so powerful that I don't see it being that much of a difference. The biggest advantage I see in gold pilots is the extra implant slot. Basically, it gives you the option to load a mech specific ability like Sky Strike Stasis duration or something like that. The disadvantage of course for using mech specific abilities is that you can't easily change builds. For me, right now with all purple pilots (except Major), I can shift things around because I don't have many mech specific implants. It' a trade off I guess. |
