Everyone, The Boys Season 3 is here! But...only one episode so far. Why oh why can't Amazon Prime be like Netflix and drop the entire season all at once? I've only watched a bit so far cause well you know...work...but wow, this is so good! If you love superhero stories and can stand some realistic gore (close your eyes if you can't), you have got to watch The Boys. The comic was really extreme, like I couldn't finish the comics, but the show is so much better and while the gore isn't really toned down, at least it's not in every single scene/page. And wincing and closing my eyes is always an option.
Anyway, the story and premise is fantastic, and apparently, in this season, The Boys finally level the playing field somewhat against the supers (whereas in the comics the field was always leveled).
If you're 18+, I strongly recommend you go watch this. Everyone else, well I neither recommend nor condone you watching this show but if you do, don't tell your parents!

Koalabear: If you can get past the first 5 minutes, you're hooked. Mind the first step, it's a doozy!

TBH, the chemistry/rivalry between Antony Starr's Homelander and Karl Urban's Butcher is so freaking awesome. The tension is so sharp it could cut through steel!

Great show. Itâs frequently shocking which I happen to appreciate. There are those moments where Iâm like, âDid that really just happen.â Baby with laser eyes is my highlight moment.
I have stopped recommending it though. Iâve had to many people put off by it after watching it. To me itâs a perfect anti-hero series that sort of shows you a possible outcome in a society if super human powers were actually a part of reality. Itâs fun to think of the idealized Avengers and Fantastic Four, but The Boys demonstrates the flip-side of the superhero fantasy. Humans are imperfect, sometimes selfish 「illegitimate child」s. An actual check on superhuman groups or people would be a daunting task.
I teach American government and civics and Iâll tell you a similar dilemma has always confronted human societies in regards to how to appropriately govern ourselves. Most of us have just been blessed to live in a time period where many of those corresponding questions seemed answered.

It's a complicated world where everything is not black and white. The heroes are self centered egotistical illegitimate children and even the protagonists are flawed in their own way.

I don’t watch it, but I grew up with Jenson Ackles, so I might tune in.

Nice to see heroes not noble or “heroic”
