It's actually not a bad idea when you think about it. Every day, you need to spend 2k credits to get 10 A-coins. Purposely doing an upgrade or buying an implant just for this is not a good idea when you're saving up credits for the next big upgrade. So, if you see blueprints even for mechs you've maxed and they cost exactly 2k or even 1k, then it's like basically buy 10 A-coins for 2k credits.

That was probably my fanatical drive for so long, but since the introduction of pilots, i can fulfill that by buying one implant. I know it cost more, but it doesn't hurt to gather pilot credits as well. I'm still buying the Panther prints, I'm about 700 shy of maxing him also |

In that case, just buy one implant because you get another free one 12 hours after the first.
