Ok, I know I should know this, but it seems a bit weird. Stats for the SB says optimal range is 0-90m with a max of 150m. But, I notice the damage ticker for anything under 70m is 800-900, and over 70m to be 1.7k - 1.9k. What's up with that?

Numbers for damage can only display every other server tic. There are 5 tics per second, so the damage numbers for sustained weapons display as one number for 2 hits. Kind of like how Carbine fires 5 bullets, but only 3 numbers show. Two for the regular value, one for the remaining 3 hits.

It must be me then cause I swear the damage of my target goes down faster when further out.

It must be me then cause I swear the damage of my target goes down faster when further out. There's a damage bonus for hitting side flanks (50%), not just double damage for backstabs. When AI, and most players for that matter, are far out, they're usually going for another engagement or repositioning, so not facing you before they start getting hit.
