With all these news weapons dropping, lets take a look at the old school big guns: Stasis Beam 16 and Rail Gun 16.
I have both of these bad boys cloned, so I could run dual SB16 or dual RG16. The problem is, I only have one Assault mech maxed and that's my Panther. My Guardian is currently sitting at R6.6 though but while it's close, I still have like over 500 bps to collect for it. Sheesh. I could try my Paragon, but again, I have the feeling that I would run out of bps right around R6.6 as well. Besides, my goal is to run my Stalker but that's another story.
Anyway, I've tried both dual set ups on my Panther and I gotta say, I love the dual SB16 build. It is so much fun and arguably better than the dual RG16 build. Here why:
- target assist means I don't have to line up my shot - continuous fire with huge magazine means I can make full use of my Stasis Field - it got a nice power uplift with it's pilot - I don't like pilots but it's part of the game now... - it puts mechs in Stasis almost right away - because I have it cloned, I don't feel the need to get and clone the GR10 or even the AT10. Sure, the AT10 has way more DPS but I just don't have the patience and resources to bring the AT10 to it's full potential
As for the dual RG16 build:
- I have to play it like a camping pop up ambusher and hope I don't miss - if I get rushed, it's lights out and it's embarrassing - reload times are killer - and no I haven't upgraded my RG Reload implant yet - it makes the game too easy sometimes when I get into the groove with my aim - for most games, I really don't need dual RG16 so I split them up between Guardian with CB12 and Paragon with LA10
The plan is to go dual RG16 on the Guardian once I max it, and then my Killshot next so that it can run dual CB12 or dual RM12 depending on my mood. Next to max would be my Shadow so that it can run JR8 and eventually my Stalker to run either JR8 or RM12 or even dual SB12 (wow haven't dusted those off in ages!) I'm not really good at brawling, so the Stalker might even be a candidate for dual GR10 as a way in the future project.
Anyway, what are your thoughts?

If you got the season pass, stop upgrading the blue sniper pilot and his implants. I would say Guardian or Paragon for Railguns. Guardian can flash bang. Paragon just gets that metric ton of damage to places faster than anything else tyhat can carry them. I intend to have a RG paragon, because I snipe on the move for fine adjustments. Lane and flick. I just keep the dot on the lane, and fine tune with strafing. Long arm Shadow is going to be a thing. I'm going to make it a thing. I'm going to hit all of the stupid shots the AI used to do before they lobotomized them.
Anyway. I'd say finish Guardian first. SB is more of a CPC weapon unless you're squadding in deathmatch. It picks up a lot of assists, but only really gets kills if you can catch something in the open, or are lucky enough to pull cleanup duty. Just swap for now depending on the game mode. RG is the only weapon that makes Guardian truly CPC viable.

I don't buy the season pass.
I'm very tempted to drop the Stalker altogether and just go with Guardian, Panther, Paragon, Killshot and Shadow. That would give me 3 mechs with 32EN though and I don't really need that. I actually have a lot of fun with the Paragon, so I'm tempted.
But...the Stalker is new, and no matter my issues with it, I want to see if I can make effective use of it.
Now that they've released a LA12, I'm thinking dual LA12 might be a thing in the far future and I might be tempted to put that on a maxed Stalker.

I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum. I paid $$$ way back in the day for an SB16 but I have yet to take it past 4.7. Eventually I plan to double it simply because it is the only other 16EN weapon, but it is last on the list. Right now the plan is to max 4 mechs, acquire 2 weapons, take them and 2 others past R6, and get a wide variety of epic/legendary pilots and implants first. Soooo I guess I'll get around to the SB in 2023 or so? Lol.
Partly it is because I prefer burst damage. Mainly it is because they don't seem to be consistently effective in tournament. Nor do they seem popular with other players. Being resource-limited I have to mainly go off of what other players are doing to figure out the most efficient investments. And for the most part they don't seem to be going with SB16s, even the ones who probably have maxed them. Also, I tend to win against those fielding SBs. Lastly, I figure once the DL16s come out they will instantly become a must-have weapon and all my 32EN mechs will be spoken for.
Panther RG16s are my bread and butter though. It took me a couple weeks to adjust to them from the LG10+RG16 setup, but I definitely get more Godlikes with it. I will try it on my Guardian once I max that mech but I have a hard time envisioning it being as effective as the Panther. The fence is one part but the speed is the other thing. Lining up shots requires a lot of legwork.
AT10s are another bread and butter weapon. Can't recommend it enough on certain maps. Gets me a lot of Godlikes and Nemesis, etc, which are the tourney earners. Frankly I plan to get and upgrade the AT6 before touching my SB16, so I can run the 10+6 on a maxed Shadow. Seems like a pretty brutal setup.

For me, trying to line up a shot is like twitching back and forth. I did really well with the Guardian as a sniper way back when - although not as good as Ares or Jugg - and I'm doing pretty good with LA10/RG16 on Paragon, so I'm reasonably sure that when I max my Guardian, I'll do well with it. I do like CB12 on the Guardian too, but it just can't compete against dual AT10 builds with pilot range boost - especially since AT can curve around cover and the CB12 can't. One day, after my immediate plans are complete, I think I really want to get and clone the AT10 and do all that I need to do to make it a really good weapon and throw it on a tank like Jugg or Ares.

Wow, yeah we're different on that. I feel like with me it's Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, I kinda need to move to shoot. Panther is about my speed on that for sniper. I remember I used to come across the occasional Killshot Longarm sniper. Guys who really could hit the target. I don't know how they did it. I can (sorta, sometimes) brawl mid-range with a single RG on Killy, but Longarms? Never managed to hit jack. Dual AT10s are hella worth it. An AT10 Zephyr isn't just good on the close-range maps. On tomorrow's map Freight Depot and Colonnade too it's my big earner. I only have the blue pilot at 4-star and range/damage implants at rank 3, but that gets me 51m range which is enough. Before pilots I was beginning to think I needed to get a Redox instead but they have really put my Zeph back on top. Ares is a real good platform for 2xAT10 too. I mostly run it in CPC and use Zeph for tourney, but it works for both.

The season pass is probably the biggest bang for your buck, especially this month with the purple pilot and purple long arm damage mod. The only way to get damage mods that aren't blue without cash, is the 2 daily mod crates, at abysmal drop rates. That, and it's close to a million creds between the extra 50k lumps on the premium track and the 500k from the end of season box. Stick with maxing out your most used stuff. Once you have a solid hangar at the top of the top for guaranteeing decent resources by just playing, then you can worry about experimenting. The time you spend maxing out your near max stuff, you will build up BP for your newer items as well. I say that because you're already so close for your most used sets, and probably run into players quite a bit.

Yeah, I have gotten my butt KICKED by that setup. Will be a few months before I have everything upgraded, etc, but I am psyched to run it myself.
