Maybe I'm late to the party on this, but I have been using this alternating fire truck for a week now since seeing Mayer's video on it, and wow does it make a difference. All of a sudden I am loving Carbines at distance. Truly a lethal little tip!

If I'm strafing or wanting to keep up continuous fire, I alt fire my CB12s. If I want to do maximum damage as fast as possible, then I dual fire.

Dual fire definitely brings the hurt, although I am surprised how many enemies I am cutting down at 80m out with alternating. It's rejuvenated my Carb 10s. I feel like I tried alternating fire back in the day, but the placement of my fire buttons meant it didn't work for me. I play holding my phone in my hands which seems to make single weapon firing more difficult (or maybe I'm just clumsy). Finally figured out a good button configuration, but had forgotten about using it with Carbs.

My habit is to only alternate fire with Javs against shielded mechs. But I'm going to try this with Carbibe 12s on Guardian. I wonder how it would do on missile racks on Zephyr etc.

One thing to remember about alternating fire... you don't have to alternate between the left and right fire buttons, only one fire button left or right and the big red fire button.

Yep, fire 10 bursts from one Carb then hold the main fire button for continuous bursts. It really frustrates the Ai as they are waiting for you to finish your clip but it never happens! The epitome of suppressing fire.
