Oh, how I would like to knock some heads together.
There I said it. I had been thinking it so long, it just had to come out. I just want to knock the heads of tankers together because unlike clubbing, tankers injure far many people and are, in my humble opinion, bringing ruin to this game.
In clubbing, the main victims were the noobs. And whether, one wanted to pretty it up with the term "farming," the people being injured were the new players and those who had not gathered resources or experience to counter a superior hanger. However, unlike tanking, there was a counter. I pilot could gain the resources and enough where-with-all to reconfigure their hanger to either match a clubber's hanger or figure out how to out-fight, out smart them.
Tanking is different and far more destructive. It has the same goal - exploit the least experienced and least equipped for game rewards. However, the means are different. In clubbing, a pilot simply rearranged their hanger to put them in a lower tier. Potential match-mates are unaffected. Actual, match-mates benefited, even though they were usually blocked from earning the highest rewards.
In tanking, a pilot has to "throw" matches. They have to betray their fellow match-mates, so they could lose and thus reduce their league score so then they can get into the leagues with the least experienced and the least equipped. It is the betrayal which sets tanking apart from clubbing because they are denying their match-mates of their experience and firepower, so they can reap the benefits later. Furthermore, what also sets tanking apart from clubbing, is there no defense, no counter, apart from "BITC.ING" or hoping the developers will curb and punish the practice.
During the clubbing scourge, a pilot could eventually upgrade their hanger and promote themselves above the tier where it was most intense. Tanking affects all leagues and there is no safe zone. If a pilot is not being directly beat up and bullied, they are having to somehow overcome a one or more pilot deficit in a match or matches.
I do not expect this to change anyones attitude. Tankers are going to continue until they are forced to find new ways to exploit the game. I just wanted to rant.
