Points of interest… Shotty 8 and more maps! (Even if they are 2v2, more maps is good. I actually really like 2 v 2 so am stoked to see it!)

Shadow shotguns will be a good late game thing now maybe (they were all the rage in early beta)! I could also see it being good for Hizedo when he drops. Will likely be even more viable once pilots are set with it too.

Yessir, I missed the Shotty Shadow heyday but I still used it a lot in the beginning and really enjoyed it… reminded me of the old Carnage Thunder and then the Stalker/Loki Gust fun from War Robots… two of my favorite builds for a while.

Oh how I wish they’d left the bot EN alone and let us have duplicates of the bots. I’d love to run two Shadows in my hanger; one Jav and one shotguns.

Over a year foplaying and i have never picked up any of the shotguns. Are they that good? I have heard otherwise.

Shotguns are fun but very hard to use against human players and in any role other than ambush. I can see SG8 replacing MR8 for early game players. The SG4 basically had similar damage to MR6, so when I played tight TDM maps like Acropolis, I liked playing SG4 on Shadow. If SG8 were similar to say MR12 or even a bit below, I can see myself trying them out. I wonder how they will stack up to AT10?

Arcs may be the bigger monster, but in order to run them on Shadow I had to split a 10 + 6… Shotty 8s being a natural 16 will fill the role better and allow me to run both Arc 10s, together, on the mechs I like to use for them. dukeofadvil - like others said, they lose their viability about early mid game due to them being only EN 4 and having the appropriate firepower for that EN cost. However, I would still put a single SG4 (R5) on builds that were CQB but didn’t have the right weapons for their EN capability, well past their normal expiration date, and still had decent results. Their mag is low, but they are very good at “Spraying and praying” with that wide hit cone Redfiend mentioned, and they fit the Shadow like a glove. Their time to unload was about perfect to coincide with stealth to get in and get out with a full mag expended once you got used to waiting till the VERY last minute to pop your stealth ability. I ran the 4s on my Shadow a lot in the early days and had a lot of fun with them. I can’t wait to have a set of 8s.

I am going to have to juggle the Jav 8s, LA 8s, and Shotty 8s on my Shadow depending on the map and the mode. Oh well, it is worth the extra prep time to have decent options. Although, I do wish there was a way to switch weapons in Squad lobbies so you didn’t have to leave and get invited back to change things up.

How's Shadow with LA8?? I imagine it must be a hoot to kill a red from across the map while in stealth!

How's Shadow with LA8?? I imagine it must be a hoot to kill a red from across the map while in stealth! It’s surprisingly good. Maps like Hanging Gardens are a playground for that build. Way more fun than I thought it would be. On CPC it depends on the match but for the most part, it is one of my favorite builds to play. Can get CPs or harass/defend a CP from range while undetected, or in some cases, both at the same time (when there are other CPs in sight of whichever one you are taking. It takes a bit of work to make any EN 8 weapon compete but Shadow is a very fun platform to do it from.

Thanks! I was gonna do MR8 on my Shadow when I finally maxed it, but might try LA8 on it now. Heck, might even try RG16 for laughs.

Thanks! I was gonna do MR8 on my Shadow when I finally maxed it, but might try LA8 on it now. Heck, might even try RG16 for laughs. I use MR 8 too… both are really good on the Shadow. Experimenting with some 4* Jav 8s too… I think those will get maxed and used a lot from what I am seeing. Good enough damage to be viable imo. Maps determine my loadout most of all, then whether or not I am in a squad plays a factor. Hell, I may eventually roll out with the SB 8 for squad play, if it works. Recently, though, I saw a Mayer vid where he mentioned that the SBs actually have a more effective freeze as they go up. For example, SB 12 doesn’t slow them down once frozen as much as SB 16. So SB 8s, by that line of thought, wouldn’t slow things down as far as SB 12s. I haven’t tested this, nor heard it before, so I stress that it’s just hearsay… but that will definitely determine whether I upgrade mine or not, and whether I use them or not. Custom games for testing, to follow. I’m pretty disappointed with the DL 8s on Shadow, however. They would do better on a Lancer or an MD, I would think. Maybe a Cheetah. I have not tried the RG 16, although it’s on my list. I feel like it will be of limited use… but I could be wrong.

I've been disappointed overall with the Disc Launchers in general. Maybe I'm just not using them right. They're not JRs and they're not CBs but something in between. I feel like you need to run them on something that can take as good as it gives, like Ares or Juggs to make best use of them.

I feel like you need to run them on something that can take as good as it gives, like Ares or Juggs to make best use of them. Exactly right… the reason I said what I did was that the MD can do that, take hits, dish hits, get to cover and heal, repeat. Lancer because it can take a few hits AND get to some interesting spots that allow for non direct fire without taking any back. Wouldn’t be as good, especially with the vertical axis, as Javs, but I am sure they could be utilized well enough to justify the build. Aside from tanks like you mentioned, DL 12 fits really well on the Killy. I would say it’s my favorite platform for it… If the MR 12 hadn’t have appeared they would still be on it. Ares is my next favorite platform for the 12s. I have been testing more on the Panther… with very mixed results. Pretty sure I don’t like it. edit: again with the mixed results… ran some lunch games and the DL 12 Panther was the star for 2/3 tourney games. The 12s really are good… but so much depends on where you are firing from. If you are not protected on your flanks, it’s a bad spot. You can’t react as quickly to surprise threats with them, and today’s tourney map is a great example of a map that allows for that. I paid close attention to everything while in that build today and had good results. Hitting from the edges of the battle and repositioning a lot seems to work best for me… which is probably why I like them on the Killy so much. Panther can do that… but I tend to play it like I always have when using Thanos and CB 12s, and have not been very careful with positioning. I will reassess the build with that in mind and see if I change my mind further.

I run an arc/10 and shotty/4 on my Shadow and Killshot on the tight tournament maps. Great fun if you can avoid getting locked down.
