Well, I should have paid more attention...
Today's Derby tasks were to use the Arachnos...so, I upgraded it and ranked it up to 24EN. Slapped RM12 on it for a couple of CPC games and it actually worked alright. Even killed one red with the Spider Turret and got 9 kills that game. So, it works but it isn't much better than what I already have, so technically a waste of resources. Especially since the ultimate prize is SB8. Hell, I don't even use my SB12's anymore, why do I want SB8? What could I possibly put them on? As sustained damage weapons, you need to be exposed to use them and get any kind of return from them, whether damage or Stasis. I suppose I might try them out on a Shadow as a mid - long range annoyance support mech.

Thinking the same thing. Not wasting my resources. You sure did yours.  I meant on slapping the SB8s on Shadow. Once in stasis Reds cant turn so might be fun but then thought I'd exhaust the clip and they'd still be alive haha Still wanna try them on Zephyr Arc10+SB8 for fun or Juggernaut CB12+SB8. Wishing they released TL8 or TL12 instead... |

Sometimes I put a TL6 on a bot to use up its EN after placing a 12 or 16 engine weapon. Then I think I wish I had a stasis weapon to use instead. SB8 may fill that need for me. So I'm glad its available through the event. I have TL6 on my Arachnos right now. Would love to have the SB8 on it. :-)

Anyone else given up on this stupid event??? I can't be bothered to grind for a weapon I don't want and would never use. Why would I want a pair of SB8 when I already have dual SB12 that I don't use and dual SB16 that I spread out on two mechs?? Sure, I can understand wanting to collect it but come on. 650?? That's 200 more than other Derbies they've done.

I'm not bothered with the event,but I am finding I am managing a lot of the tasks just through my normal play,as the event nears the end I may look at the existing tasks left and tweak my play to finish them if they are doable.

That's 200 more than other Derbies they've done. Havent kept track of other derby objectives but the wiggle room seems the same? ie We can miss 5 tasks and still make 650... But sounds like you don't need them so might as well not bother given it doesnt give any incremental rewards. Unsure whether they ever make these prizes available through regular play though. Like is Arachnos available outside its event? No clue. Personally, I just cant help ticking off boxes, filling up progress bars, getting 100%s, etc  This is pretty much through normal play. Currently have two objectives Im unlikely to complete (Upgrade Arachnos, Upgrade Rank). Crossing fingers the last three days dont throw me a curveball.  EDIT: Typed this up past midnight. Remembered there are incremental rewards. heh |

I am not actually sure that is more generous than previous derbies as this one is 14 days long. Seems a bit like they've spread them out in so many small chunks on such a long progress path that it seems like more than it is. But I don't remember what previous events paid That said I can always use the credits and the 100 A-Coins they included too. I expect I'll naturally complete pretty much all the tasks but like you I'm mainly in it for the resources. Dual SB8s might be interesting though if I ever max a light mech to 16EN. |
