I'm back, and playing on my baby account on iOS, I also have a dream that some day I will return to my glorious and stacked account on android. But as of right now I'm content with my iOS account.
One of the things I never tried on my Android account was the Rayker, which was a massive mistake because I always loved the suppression ability of the Invader (which I also plan to build for my iOS account once I finish kitting out my Loki with Cryo weapons). But I always loved playing Rayker in skirmishes because of its sheer brawling ability. It has decent health, good speed and maneuverability, good firepower, and an ability that is annoying as hell to play against. Pair up the Rayker with a burst damage weapon like the Thunder or Glory, and you suddenly have a beast of a machine. Able to take out lower tier tanks in less than a magazine, and with amazing survivability thanks to the multi-shot suppression ability (that also does damage). The Rayker is a solid option.
Case closed.

I had great fun with Rayker. The ability to shoot stealthed bots was golden back then. On the other hand you can't shoot over anything. I prefer Cerebus now. Greater firepower, AEGIS and lockdown in addition to suppression (for the price of range, a bit of speed and one charge only). Both were never meta, but so fun to play...

Up in Master and Champion league (where I am), Raykers are a rare sight, which is a shame, as I too feel they are a bit underrated. The big problem is that Rayker has been indirectly outclassed by newer robots. While Rayker is able to suppress a large chunk if the enemy team (a very useful ability), bots like Ares and Behemoth offer much more firepower, while Typhon and Erebus offer both more firepower and an arguably better ability. Many people prefer damage to support, so Rayker’s numbers have unfortunately dwindled. Plus, while you can definitely use Rayker as a brawler in lower leagues, it is strictly midrange and higher leagues because it lacks defense in sustained combat. Glad to see you making good use of it though, this bot needs attention!

Typhoon and Erebus are better no doubt, but there's a certain appeal to successfully running non meta bots. Also, leveling Cerebus or Rayker seems almost reasonable.

I just got my Rayker to 2.1 last night, a big investment for me as all other tier 3 & 4 bots just go to 1.9. It can be super annoying and speedy so thought I’d push it up. Been running it with Hel and Stings at 1.9 and found it so-so but fun. I’ll try out some brawling weapons too, hadn’t thought of those builds but have a 2.12 Thunder and some 2.4 gusts.
I’m wondering though does the glance abilities suppression have a cooldown or can I peg a red 3 times in a row for 15 seconds of suppression?

There's a cooldown. 10s I think.

I use my Mk2.4 Rayker in Champs. Never used it for MR or LR, anyone using it that way is doing it wrong. 3x glance + Mk2.12 Avengers + 2x Mk1.10 Shredders, it is a beast of a brawler. Don't forget to add T2 suppression chip in your drone and a lockdown chip (if you have a spare circle slot). Add Last Stand, Heavy Armour, cloaking unit and Shield Breaker, and you are good to go. Don't be surprised, one on one, the Ravana can lose if you time your glance shots perfectly. Someone said Cerebus is a better option...I beg to differ. Tried it before, Rayker is still better. One on one, Cerebus still lose to my Rayker.

In regards to the Rayker, 180k maxed health and no extra magic other than suppression means you get over run in most exchange's. A mega Orochi has nearly as much health plus all the extra magic to go with it. With suppression chips on a drone, you get just as fast suppression ability throne in for good measure. Sure it's a fun bot if that's the only option, but sadly non competitive in higher leagues.

There used to be a really good thread about Rayker somewhere on the Forum.... Something like Rayker Unappreciated Brawler or something.... It's a good read.... Or was. Raykers a cracker. Jump module, and cloaking unit, was a personal fav.

Sorry, raidenii just shared “I use my Mk2.4 Rayker in Champs”, going on to say what an effective build it is and that it wins 1v1 against Cerberus, and that it excels more as a brawler. They shared the combat facts of their experience. So how can you come along and say it is “non-competitive in higher leagues”? Now granted you don’t see them a lot in Champ, but I have encounter several in the past week and they were a pain in the butt.

Well... yeah nevermind lol I mean… the only thing that can stand up to a tank is another tank, so it’s find of unfair to put Rayker against those. Rayker actually can brawl in the right circumstances, only issue is that those circumstances become harder to get the higher the league.

But Im just thinking about "regular" bots. im really old school so to me, brawling is knife fighting, knuckle busting, smell my finger while I kill you or die.
In that respect, some bots can really brawl and some just cant unless they are super maxed, bells and whistled all up.
Bots that are generally a bit squishy dont usually do very well brawling. Yes there are situations that are the exception to every rule. But those exceptions dont help move a player through the leagues, right? lol
Im just sayin, it caught me a little off guard reading the words 'sheer brawling ability' in the same sentence as Rayker. I thought I missed an update or something lol

I believe this statement validates my point about Meta-It is becoming evident that it is less about the bot and more about the add ons that make a bot Meta in War Robots. With the constant addition of content, how could it be otherwise?

Got my Rayker to 2.4 now and it’s a squirrelly little bugger. Added T3 Mechanic and Road Hog so it’s pretty speedy and the ability does good damage. Ran it with Thunder and Gusts for awhile and it can brawl well 1on1 but susceptible to flanking reds.
I’ve returned to using a Hel and Stings and I like it, I like it a lot. It’s the only build I’ve run that can actually take down a Fafnir pretty reliably. My Leech with 4 2.12 Punisher Ts which can burn down an Invader easily will barely damage a close Fafnir in flight because it’s so fast and there’s so much lag. But the Rayker’s ability and Hel and Sting are all auto-aim and boom, it takes out big chunks from that thing.
Also when it dies it’s left in a funny crumple.

After leveling up Orochi to 1.12 and the Hels to 1.10, I will level up another Hel for the Rayker. Probably the most effective weapon against Fafnir. Pix has been good, given me 5 Hels over the past 2 months.

Adrian's got a video right now about using a Natasha to absolutely wreck fields because it's all maxed out with meta weapons and modules and stuff. It's absolutely true that you can equip anything short of starter bots to be competitive throughout most levels.

Is there any gameplay of brawler Raykers in high leagues? I am quite doubtful of their effectiveness in high level play, but if someone can show me a video that proves otherwise, I will gladly concede to that.

I know Liam (Predator) loves the Rayker, Adrian has some games here too. None of these are too old either. Like anything it takes some time to get used to using them, but I've had a lot of luck with high DPS brawlingRayker builds, I'll unload rockets/shotguns and then suppress while I reposition/reload and finish etc.

Watched a few, and I actually am surprised with how well Rayker did. I will say, anti control and physical shields will ruin this bot because it’s squishy, but there actually are a lot of bots Rayker can go head to head with. What really got me was speedy and maneuverable the bot was, I knew it was mobile, but man was it mobile! Point taken, I guess this bot is a good brawler if played correctly.
