Do I need to upgrade? I plan to play on skill alone. No grinding everything at stock because I cannot grind 2 games.
I’m liking the mechanics of this game more and more. Mini map (thank god!), reload, announcer, and better map design.
comtrols are not as smooth and bots turn on a dime. My biggest gripe.

Grinding isn't really necessary, but it is encouraged. The majority of what can be earned in premium currency comes from tournament and fortune vaults. Fortune vaults are opened with keys only obtained through tournament. In terms of premium without grinding -200 coins every 5 days at minimum from completing weekly tasks. -100 coins for completing the "Battle-a-thon" event that is up for 3 days a week. -300 coins from seasonal events like "Deathmatch Mania" which are irregular, but usually every other week. -10 coins per day for the daily task "Spend 2000 credits
And 1-9 coins from battle crates.
Click on your profile in the hangar and go to settings. You can customize your button layout and adjust your sensitivity. Vertical lock assist is like War Robots, where control focuses mostly on the horizontal plane. Camera can still move vertically, unlike War Robots. The free aim lock type has much higher base sensitivity.
Killshot, Panther and Ares are the mechs to replace the starter mechs. Missile rack 8, javelin 6,RPG6. Long Arms, and Pulse cannon 8 are the weapons that carry early game.
Upgrading is necessary. The MM operates on total account EXP. Whales pop up here and there, but the majority of matches early game will be against AI and other noobs. AI ramps up on a curve, the mechs and weapons it uses start to hit rank 4 around 100K XP. With XP capped to 1k per day, it's about 3 months before a 4 star hangar is necessary. Rank 4 is "mid game". Most AI cap out at 4 stars until close to the EXP cap. Since the only higher leveled things you'll really run into before playing for a year minimum are players, rank 4(4 stars) is the comfortable spot for deciding if you're going to stick around.

The mechs don't turn on a dime...your perspective turns first and then the torso catches up.
As for upgrading, I would upgrade the mechs before weapons. If you're not in a rush to move up the divisions (lower divisions report more hackers), then try to rank up your mechs at least once or twice to increase their HP and EN capacity. Mech speeds don't change (thank goodness). If you're gonna upgrade weapons, do the 6EN weapons like RPG6 and JR6 and PC8. Get the MR8 as soon as you can and maybe the LA8 as well. Don't bother upgrading things like Plasma Cannons. They are useless.

High rank/high EN cost weapons are the priority after that, as R5+ EN capacities are pretty useless without them. After the change, R4 mediums have 6.7 light mech EN caps, and R4 heavies have 6.1 medium mech EN. Aside from the handful of 6 and 8 cost weapons (Javelin, Thermal lance, Missile Rack, Carbine/Pulse 8, Long arms) 10+ cost weapons(and duplicates) become necessary at R5 and beyond.

On small map the big circle. Easy to track red and kill 1 by 1. Only 100 skill bois. No upgradeing nada.

They should start changing the way MM works now. It should be based on the strongest mech of the hangar or something else. Since it depends on the exp track F2P and Casual players will get heavily punished down in the lower exp brackets by P2W. Some even posted facing a maxed shadow with dual CB8 while having only R3 hangar. Also a good way to separate the hackers since they dont seem to upgrade their hangars anyway

What the game needs is a working division ranking. Downside to that is that they didn't program tournament and quick play MM as separate MMR, which is why players would stay in low divisions for tournament farming before they switched to EXP.

I will not upgrade. just want to bang out a couple games per day. That’s it . Simple

Enemies and allies will get stronger, and there is no way to "go back" to weaker opponents. Most of what you're playing with and against are AI bots. No skill required.
