…over Cyclone and Squall.
Basically, they are the most versatile of the three.
You are not dependent on lock-on to hit, don’t have to deal with lock-on deficit in close quarters, and you can still shred with accuracy from a distance.
The Squall, while deadly up close, lack the versatility of range. There are so many situations my Rets stopped beacon loss or killed a priority target. Squall could not have done that. And while I am fairly proficient with Scourge class weapons and target-hopping, I am seeing too many situations with Scourge Leech where target-lock is being disengaged, but with the Leech its ok cuz I mainly stay on the brawl perimeter. With Minos there are too many variables in cqc that having to mitigate lock-on issues is a deficit.
Of course this is not to say Squall or Cyclone are not good or don’t have their own specialties, and to an extent choice will depend on what a person enjoys. But in my assessment of whether to get Squall or Cyclone or stay with Retaliators, versatility was the most important factor.

Is Squall more powerful at point blank than Retaliator? I had heard a while back that when it is in acceleration mode Retaliator has roughly the same DPS as Squall. Not sure if it is true though, is it?

Not sure if it is true though, is it? I haven’t tested it myself (too bothersome to get Titans active in Custom matches), but I run 1x Krait (won on Islander giveaway, just had to give is some love) + 2x Squall + 2x CannabisReactors and go for Red Titans when I can. At point blank and vs big targets, Squall are much stronger and have the advantage of trickle reload. There are YouTube comparisons, and I think the cross-over distance for Ret/Squall is around 100m. If you are outside that more often, stick w Ret.

Definitely agree with the OP. At range they are very effective against titans. Arthur's are still tuff, however I try to flank them and hit their backside. One of my MO is ABF, always be flanking. Minos is very good at that.

Titan Shotguns aren’t so effective on Bots, Titans they are devastating on . OP weapons will rock any Bot targeted !

My fastest Arthur shield loss is when I get too close to Titan shoties….must….stay…..away…..
Wish I had Minos, might be fun.
A bit OT, anyone have leveled Titan AG thing? I had one hit my 1.8 Rajin in Bastion with the vortex things, I was at full health, got hit, my health bar went down maybe 1/8”, shields still intact.
Just curious if those Titanic Vortexes have any balls…….

Not sure if it is true though, is it? In the >150m range, squalls out perform the 「dookie」 of the retalitors. But it ofc drops off real fast with range on squalls. I don't own any but I've heard the cyclones w/ quantum sensor is the way to go on the minos. You can basically spend the last half of the match killing orochis.

Again do not close.

I don’t doubt the effectiveness of Cyclone; I really enjoy scourge class weapons. My main point is I feel the Rets are the most versatile of the three

Tbh, so far with Kisten at L15 and Bulavas at L10, supported by 3 AMs, it works quite well against most mechs, but underperforms against Titans. It is definitely a support role; teammates have to be pushing and holding beacons as these are not really brawling weapons. But they are fun as hell, so give me some time to max em and get more use to targeting and will update you in the Bulava & Kisten thread
