Thanks to all the ads in War Robots, I would not have known that this game was already released. The overall impression I get is a bit of The Expanse, Stellaris, EVE Online and Homeworld all rolled into one. The trailer doesn't describe what game this is, but to get to the point, it is a 4X strategy and base builder game in an MMO setting. 4X means, Explore, Expand, Exploit and Exterminate. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4X4X games have taken a big surge in mobile, adding PvP, pay to win and gacha elements, unfortunately, all set in a shared universe with many players, which you either to have prey upon or work cooperatively. Last time I played a game like this was Star Trek Fleet Command. Unfortunately the game publishers, Scopely has the greed and corporate morals that will make Pixonic look like Mother Theresa. The publishers turn out to be Netease, who also did among others, EVE Echoes, Diablo Immortal, Life After, Super Mecha Champions, Astracraft, Knives Out, and Omnyoji. My experience with Netease games are that they are of high quality and excellent in presentation, but of course, not all games are perfect. While they make great games, they don't seem to have much focus, as you would expect from companies with bazillion games. The success strategy is like Nokia, throw as many things at the wall and see which would stick. In terms of monetization, they are fair with free to play, although I would expect that once a game has picked up significant popularity, they will slowly start turning the monetization screws. As a big company they have the money to burn, and would be willing to take a hit in the bank to expand the player base before they would start raking it in. Another issue is that there are already many mobile games of this genre, with varying degrees of pay to win. If the game is to succeed, it needs to set itself apart from the horde, by offering less pay to win, better presentation and listening to your audience to refine the game.

anjian I just watched a speculation video about Season 6 of Expanse and where they may go from there. Possibly we will see Season 6 in November? Or was it March? I have to watch it again.

Older game genres typified by RTS, base building and civilization type games with 4X qualities evolved into Stellaris. Add mobile monetization elements and you got the typical space MMORTS today such as Vega Conflict, Astrokings, Ark of War and so on. Even Stellaris has jumped to mobile. So far Star Trek Fleet Command has been the most successful of the lot.
If you see them advertised on mobile ads they are likely to be doing well enough.
The difference is that so far Infinite Lagrange looks to have the best presentation yet.

I think I might be hooked to the game.
It is an MMO to begin with, but not a shooter or hack and slash game, but a strategy game.
Can't compare with War Robots as they are totally different genres with. Its like comparing a spicy bowl of kimchi to an exquisitely prepared bowl of caesar salad. One is a hot action intense and furious PvP game and the other is a long drawn out PvE+PvP game based on carefully thought out strategic plans, with lots of community interaction and chill out in between as you ponder on the decisions you made.
My main complaint is that they need to hash out the interesting background and lore which generally happens when a company focuses on the game first, then lore later.

Looks like Nova Rising, new skin….. Visually it is much much better than any games I have seen of this ilk. Its like new generation versus Grandpa. The theme however is very generic. It lacks the weirdness and campiness of Stellaris. Its closer to being a strategy version of EVE Online, which is no surprising since Netease publishes EVE Echoes. However the IP is all new, and it gives me all sorts of the The Expanse and Homeworld vibes. Do you still remember the Homeworld RTS? Being generic however, it also lacks those sci-fi and fantasy cliques. One thing that strikes out from the game is that it is not very pay to win. You can actually spend a lot of money in the game and it won't get you anywhere since you cannot use money to speed up your progress. The whales have to wait as much as any F2P. At best, paying in the game by buying the black market research boxes --- this the game's loot box monetization method --- will help you acquire the blueprints for fancier ships. But blue prints only, you still have to build the ships, and your base construction progress is still all in an equal footing with others in terms of the attention you put on it. The game does gate you in the number of things you can do simultaneously through the Operations, but it also means you are less likely to be predated at. My fleet warps towards a battle with privateer forces.
