I’m trying to figure this out- would a single punisher round be bigger or smaller than a human being (average size adult) in the game?
If the ammo is bigger, could you stick people in coffin sized pods and shoot them out magazine style? Like how people have steel tipped bullets, you can have human tipped ammo for mechs.
I’m not planning on launching people out of belt fed automatic canons or anything, people make for bad ammo in general- unless it be a threat like “you attack us, and we will shoot your entire hometown at terminal velocity into the side of your mech”.
I’m just morbidly curious. I know they launch a escape pod vertically but don’t know if it is launching just the pilot or a crew like engineering too- if it just launches them a few miles away or hits orbit. I’m also unaware of life support or fuel, engine size or piloting thrusters or parachutes on it, so can’t determine size alone from that.
I keep thinking of this movie I saw as a kid made back in the 80s, international mechs fighting wars- and the American mech pilot’s bot is destroyed, and do he finds the arm of his mech while being tracked on foot in the desert, gets inside, requires the arm to fire manually. I can’t recall but the scale makes it seem the ammo was bigger than him. I just can’t recall the name.

I think the movie you’re describing is ‘Robot Jox’
wrt size, I’d say smaller. A battleship shell is the size of a human and that is way too cumbersome the equip on a bot I’d say. I picture the Punisher rounds as a larger cousin of the real-life gau Avenger round (the gun on the A10), ie. The size of the Avenger gun seems to fit the size of the Punisher. Let’s assume the Punisher is bigger than the round will be somewhat bigger as well.

:onasander The A-10s gatling gun is definitely the inspiration for the Avenger lead hose weapon. So here "might" be the size of that round:

With the size of the cars that used to (maybe still do) appear on the maps in Dead City and Shenzen, from what I remember, I'd say definitely human sized, or very close.
But damn, OP... do you sleep to book readings from Lovecraft or Poe? Or that guy that talks about SCP? That is definitely a trip down Morbid Lane.

I'll agree that the Punisher was based on the A10 mini gun, but I was under the impression that the rounds were smaller. I'm not huge into planes, tanks, or other types of military equipment, so my say in this is close zero, mainly because Loki and other smaller bots take up a single lane of traffic on maps like the previously mentioned Dead City and Shenzhen. IMO, if it's launching a human, I'd say the Titan weapons(RDB and Leadhose) are the best bet. As for crews of robots, it's only one or A.I, but you can put multiple people into the cockpit. The escape pods aren't thrown into orbit(probably no higher than a kilometer?). Life support, no clue. GPS and other equipment(unbeknownst to me), have been mentioned before, like Black Boxes from airplanes, other than that...beats me.

That might be the movie, looks free to watch on Amazon Prime. Is that Mantis from the TV show L.E.X.X piloting it? Be nice to see a swarm of Mantrid Drones swarm the map in War Robots and destroy every mech. His bio-mechanoid bot destroyed a entire universe. I’m 100% positive that punishers are bigger than a A-10 warthog, I’ve seen them in action. I’ve seen all sorts of planes from a SR-71 back when they still flew as a kid (lived on their last base growing up) to countless bombers in the Army, and the A10 is the only plane that really scares me. It makes itself noticed, you look up. My phantom uses punishers and is puny, but is several stories tall. I’m just not sure about the rounds size. It isn’t a realistic gun as navy ships all the way back in the American civil war could shoot farther, but still has me thinking. In the Nu-Trek Star Trek movie “Into Darkness” they used human ammo missiles so that’s a decent size to consider, about what I would say it would be if a person was riveted to the front of a brass pod: Remember on Shenzhen (Shenzhen is a Chinese city that borders Hong Kong) the traffic signs for the street are at the level of mech feet, and punishers look big on the smaller mechs. People are smaller but I’m not certain just…. what caliber a person is.

Yeah, just watched the movie, that’s the one. I forgot the hotdog scene and the jungle gym scene came from this, been trying to remember what movie they came from for at least a decade.
What I find interesting is both this movie from 1989 and Doctor Who in 1989 both have the same ending scene- one clearly blatantly copied the other and I can’t figure out which:
You can’t just go off release dates because writers and studios meet up with one another and blab their mouths. That’s a good reason also why so many copy-cat movies are released at roughly the same time.

Real life Punishers are the AK-630 guns. Even the sound is similar. The gun has a two speed mode. Go to 0:44 for the high speed mode and here it sounds a lot like the Punisher.
