I love this game, which I guess is part of the problem. When I play more than one battle in a row (especially 3 or more) I tend to have some troubling eye symptoms such as blurriness, itchiness and dryness. Of course this could happen from staring at a digital display for too long in any capacity, but I find it happens especially with this game, and I don't think it's just related to playing for too long. The size of the print is SO SMALL! You often have to hold your device inches from your face to read it. And sometimes you can't read it at all, when the color of what it's superimposed over is too similar. I try to keep my phone a good distance from my face, but when the distance of an opponent is impossible to read like that it is very hard not to bring my phone right up to my face and hurt my eyes. I find this especially annoying because I think it's something that could very easily be improved.
Just increase the font size slightly and put a thin outline around the text. Please?

It helped me to turn off the auto-brightness adjustment on my phone, and crank up the brightness to 80%+. Dark maps like Dead City were making me strain to see.

As others stated: bigger screen, proper brightness adjustment - I use 10" tablet and always tend to manually set brightness.

$6 at Walmart. Really helped me a lot. Take phone with you open home screen and try them until you can easily read your silver, gold, and WSP points without messing with your eyes when you look at the hanger as a whole (good indication of how your eyes will react in game). I find 1.25-1.5 power is pretty good.

Either reading glasses as suggested, tune your brightness AND play with a light on nearby. Used to happen to me, but with a light on this has vanished.

Sometimes it could be medical. Itching and dryness sounds more over to the medical side of things. However don't take my suggestion seriously. I'm not a professional eye specialist/optician.

More than a game or two and I found myself getting a headache which I labelled eye strain.
Changing my resolution mode from the highest to the lowest not only helped, but is also the only way I have foubd to adjust the size of the on screen controls. This is on an s7 edge.
Could have been entirely coincidental however.

Is OP over 40? I never used glasses but right around 40 I started using reading glasses. Especially important for tiny text mobile games. Also, you'll find your newer vision deteriorate rapidly once it starts.
You can get then cheap, or you can get a proper prescription from an optometrist, especially if you have astigmatism too. It will reduce strain if you do more useful things in front of a screen, too, like work.

P.S. There are problems with contrast that glasses won't fix. Especially on Shenzen it is impossible to read the distance to an enemy when it is overlaid on some of the whiter buildings.

This happened for me when I turned 50, so I now have several pairs of reading glasses. It also helps to change focal length whenever possible, such as looking at something far away between matches.
