Hello all need some advice. Starting to seriously think about my late game hanger and what I want and/or need to compete and the cost and time involved to get there. I'm close to cloning my Panther and CB12. Once that's done I'm looking at running the following:
Sub Zero Panther / dual SB12
IcyHot Panther / SB16 and TL6
Machine Gun Kelly Guardian / dual CB12
(Ok so I made those names up, don't judge)
My question is are the SBs viable late game? My current hanger strength is 2731 so I have a ways to go. I'll eventually get the rest of the CBs and a Railgun but it'll be next Xmas before I can grind those out. My problem is I LOVE my SBs. They melt everything and I have so much fun running them that I'm reluctant to toss them since I've put so much into getting them leveled up. I know CBs would be the better play (having been on the receiving end of enough of them). My own recommendation is usually run what you like to play and have fun with but, I won't be having much fun if I'm outgunned later in the game because I made the wrong choices. Anyway just need some food for thought from the group.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Stasis beams are always better in CPC than in TDM. Think of them as as higher EN/damage Pulse cannons + Slow. On Panther you have the benefit of the one way wall. If you don't play to that strength in tournament, your chances of getting Thanos snapped by other players are pretty high. They're better for team play overall.

I do run the SBs in CPC a lot more than TDM. Still building up my hanger and will eventually get all the CBs and a Railgun. Hope to do that before the Rapture happens 😊

I think you should call the SB16 TL6 Panther the "Katy Perry" build b/c, ya know, it's Hot N Cold

to answer your question, I think the SB's are viable up to a certain point. It really depends on the caliber of squad you're facing. Against the best, I think it's a handicap b/c the best players are simply not going to expose themselves that much (if at all) for your SB's to be effective

I wouldn't run two SB builds. Pick one and stick with it. If you're F2P and haven't cloned your SB12 yet, then I'd probably stick with SB16/TL6 (Fire and Ice). It's almost the same as running dual SB12 and has it's own advantages.
SB builds aren't meant to be run solo. If you pick a decent blue and follow it around, you should do ok, even in late game. Me, I tend to only bring out my SB12 Panther in the latter part of a match and I can lone wolf it fairly well due to reds being weakened. One on one, I feel I can take just about any mech in the game with the SB12 as long as I use good tactics. Killshots are a problem but as long as I spot them above the 40m mark, I'm good. Another thing I like about the laser builds is that I don't really have to aim and they're really accurate, but on the con side, you can't hit someone who is hiding their centre behind cover the way you can with LA and RG.
RG16 is not unachievable even for F2P, so instead of focusing on two SB builds, save up for the RG16. That way, you can run 3 24EN mechs. And, if in the future, you do end up with dual SB12 and don't want to get rid of the SB16, you can always throw it on a KS, Zep or Jugg or Ares. Heck, if you end up with a Brickhouse, it would be a right PITA too.

I'm a HUGE dual SB fan.
First, there is no doubt that what Redfiend and Punishing said is true... it will do very well against all but the end-game players. Then it becomes a circumstantial support build. Still useful, (I think my record for assists with one in a squad is about 12 or 13) but maps and Red bot choices make a huge impact.
Second, what Koala said about choosing one is probably the better bet if you are F2P. I wasn't, especially at first, and ran both like you want to do... and can attest that they are both very similarly weighted in usefulness. I prefer the double SB... but it's just preference. Pros and Cons can be listed if you want, or pointed to in other threads.
Side note - Also, what is your XP and how fast are you getting down the unlock path? RG is pretty far down for a casual player, I still haven't unlocked it yet, so I didn't feel bad about playing with other builds on the way up, knowing I would rebuild the resources before I got to the 170k+ mark. I am close now, so I am in saving mode. IF you are pulling in the rewards fast enough, you can go this route, too.
Either way, RG is essential for top tier team play, for the majority of players. Copying it is almost as important as getting the first one, so now that I copied my Arc 10, it's all RG from here... I will need every bit of my resources from this point forward to do that.

I’m at 230k experience so everything is unlocked. Do spend a couple of dollars here and there on the game so I could save up for the RG it will just take some time. Don’t want to get to end-game and then be completely frustrated because I don’t have the gear so I guess it’s save for RG time. Thanks all that helps 😁

I'm only about 2300 or so sp, so not in late game. I use my second Panther with SB16 and MR8. I like blasting with rockets while slowing red. I can sometimes get in a second load of rockets too. Plus it has that long shield to use. I don't enjoy sniper play much so RG may not be in my hangar for a long time.

Use the shield to block fire and put target in stasis, use the MR8 to strip shields, and kill with the RG16. The RG16 is a very versatile weapon and it's balanced by having no aim assist so it can be difficult to use. As soon as I clone my RG, I'm going to run this build on one of my Panthers and will have more feedback to give next week.
