Since the Tournaments are the primary source for free resources, it's inevitable that we have to play them sometimes. I've put in my dues in the tournaments and don't feel I have to do them to get the hanger I want anymore (which is nice), but there's still one resource that I feel I need to continue to collect to achieve my goals...Keys. The Loot Rushes every 3 weeks are a big boon and relatively easy to accumulate keys for...if you're playing the tournament that is. If, however, you want to take a break (as I do sometimes...the tournaments can be a bit frustrating and I'm not the best person when I get frustrated) then you feel like you're losing out.
Well no more! I recently discovered a little hack that can earn you keys for basically nothing. I'm sure others have already noticed this, but I'm going to start doing it this week and see how it goes. The way it works is that if you are in the bottom 5 players of your tournament pool, you either drop back a bracket, or in the case of the novice bracket, you stay there. The trick comes in that those in this situation in novice bracket still get 2 Keys! 2 keys for failing! I am good at that! I can suck as much as anyone else can! I do it on a daily basis, now I need to just apply that to my game! lol
Math will then tell you that if you do this every day of the tournament, you'll accumulate 12 keys/week. Over the 3 weeks between Loot Rushes, that's 36 keys and with only 50 maximum ever needed to complete any of the loot rushes, I barely have to play the tournament if I don't want to! Not bad.
Let me know if you see any flaws with this plan. I know of someone that's already doing it, but it doesn't really work if you are in immediate need of a-coins. Still, some might find it handy and I know others might like the idea of a high level player or 2 staying out of the tournaments so that newer players can earn resources. Thoughts?

Very interesting! I wasnt really aware of this but I am in the same exact boat - keys are my biggest desired resource right now. Sure acoins and other rewards are nice, but I hate killing myself for them and in doing so it makes me want to play the game less which I hate (grind always kills the fun). So I often take breaks or just stick to the middle of the pack on tdm. But having times where I can barely put time in and still get keys is nice.
Side note - a temporary (but always available) way to get keys is also feats. You wont get a ton, but can get 9 keys per mech and 162 keys total. Thats a lot, but its a lot of work. The nice thing is that you can do it gradually and with a focus on a specific objective you arent bound by in the daily tdm circuit. I do wish they added some keys back into the events. Ill have to ask about that one.

Hmm... I never actually fell back to Novice so I never noticed this. At one point, I had hoarded over 90 keys but then spent them all in a rush. I'd almost given up on building up a reserve cause frankly I have a good hangar with decent skins and hoping to pull good amounts of resources out of the loot chests are a crap shoot. I might give it this a try. I tend to drop brackets throughout the week anyway due to lack of playing.

I just don't grind. Wherever the rank ends up, that's where it is. Been getting more than enough for loot rush, and only completing that.
2 x 20s and a 10.
Figure by just doing the loot rush I'll eventually rack up an 「bum-bum」-load of keys. Once all of the skins are eventually knocked out, then I'll dump all of the accrued keys into the 20 chest and make up for all the missed coins.
Took up the 2 20's and a 10 because the average skin drop in the 20 is the same as the 1250/2500 coins. Roll the dice ð¤·ð½ââï¸ Surplus keys just pile up, then they'll all go down the toilet when big gains are guaranteed.

if you're up at night around when tourney ends, doing last minute registration and playing for an hour is still the most cost effective way to get resources

It would be interesting to see a statistical breakdown of when to move from the 5 key chests and the 10 key chests and then to the 20 key. I have my own plan, but a break down of how the % chances play out is valuable. I've noticed that their are categories and each category has it's own % chance, regardless of how many options are left. Only when a category is eliminated (talking skins now) do those % points redistribute to the other categories. I'm already done with 5 key chests and almost done with 10 key chests too. I don't want credits at all. I want a-coins and to clear skins...so I can get a-coins. lol

I don't want credits at all. I want a-coins and to clear skins...so I can get a-coins. lol As far as I can tell, the rarity of the skin is attached to which non-skinnreward gets a % increase when they're all out. For instance, knocking out all of the blue skins would increase the chance of the 6,xxx credits in the 5 chest, and the 25k credits in the 10 chest. If that holds true, the % chance for the 2500 coins in the 20 chest doesn't get a boosted drop rate until all of the gold tier skins are knocked out, with the purple/blue only adding to the 750/1250 coin drops when they're completely knocked out. The way I see it, running the 2 20's and a 10 for the 50 points needed for loot rush is the best bet at consistently removing skins from the pool, with the added lottery luck of the possible 1250 and 2500 coin drops, and less of a chance to roll credits. One of scapes videos pointed out that the skins in the loot rush bar are replaced with small sums of coins when their category is complete. So, knocking out all of the blue skins for the mechs you already own for credits does a lot to skim the pool. When all of the blue skins are removed that's an additional 400-500 coins per loot rush. Once all of the purple grade skins are gone, loot rush probably replaces the final reward with coins as well. I just think the 20/20/10 method is more of a guarantee to pull skins and coins vs credits. I'd rather pull 3 skins and the skins in the loot rush every 3 weeks than 50k cred, 350 coins and 1 skin. Just a matter of short game vs long game. The big thing is just not spending any surplus keys beyond the loot rush. The more held onto, the better the final payout when the only thing in the 20 key chest is 750/1250/2500 coins. Also. Wait until the last development derby event to actually spend keys in the loot rush. Sometimes it has "open 1 fortune vault" as a 20pt mission. That way there's 2 birds with 1 stone.

With the nerf to rewards in tournament I thought play would be more relaxed with less incentive to play, but I'm still seeing crazy scores from players, with time and tickets spent you would think thousands of A coins were on offer.
Take yesterday's round for fifty A coins,I finished around the 950 mark,I had won all the gold chest coins and called it a day, results this morning showed the first place player scored nearly three thousand points, all for fifty A coins.

And that's why I keep to the free tickets and stopped caring about ranking. There are enough crazy grinders that will play the game like it's a job to make worrying about ranking futile.

Yes! There was a player in my tourney heat yesterday who got into the 6,000. On a Tuesday and for such a paltry sum of A-coins?

I logged off for the night with 2 hours left last night, in 2nd slot and ended up 4th. So yeah players come on in the last hour to move up if they can. I just need my sleep.

As Deadeye rightly said in the opening post im more interested in the keys from tournament play right now as the rewards are more valuable in loot rush rather than grinding every day against very determined players.
