I want to love this mech, but many times i cannot get in close enough to use the ability. Do you feel that if i take him from 4-4 up to 5-7 the extra durability would be enough to change my mind?

you also get 4 more EN and that's when it slaps I get it, but the grind to get the harder slapping weapons have put me at a stand still. Im on the cusp of cloning my Carb12, KS and Panther, which both i like running. I just thought thatbi would love the Guardian.....I think it will need to wait and ill see if i have room in my hanger after the cloning

I can’t say I’m head-over-heels in love with my Guardian, but I definitely like it a lot more since ranking it up to 5*. Even if you don’t use the extra EN right away, you’ve got a lot more flexibility with what you can put on it. It’s been very hot and cold for me - it either kicks butt if I can get in a groove with it, or I get it in a bad situation and it gets melted, which seems to be the more frequent of the two. I definitely prefer the Panther to the Guardian, but it’s hard to dismiss the extra fire power it brings to the poker game. I dunno … if you end up running 2 killys and 2 panthers, what else do you see in your 5th slot?

When you get the right weapons on the Guardian, that's when it truly shines and you don't have to worry about getting into range to use your ability.
For example, if you run Thanos, then EVERYTHING is in range of your snap. If you run dual CB12, then you have the power to kill just about anything in the game and only use the ability to make quicker work of tanks or use it defensively against Panthers, KS and Shadows. I didn't really start loving my Guardian until I got it to 24EN and got the RG16 and dual CB12.
If you're trying to decide what to do with the Guardian, factor these into your thinking: - How much money are you prepared to spend? - Which mech is closer to 24EN, Panther or Guardian? - How many 24EN mechs do you want in your hangar? If 2 is enough, then one Guardian and one Panther should be good and would be the cheapest way to go.
I actually prefer Thanos on the Guardian over the Panther like most people because of the Guardians slower speed. I find the Panther too twitchy to be able to line up my shots.

I need to advance something else, to be primary 5th slot, but im not sure if i should just chug away swapping out juggy, Aries, MD and Guardian, or pick up something else. I do not want to dump resources into a bot im only going to pull out for events.

I wasn’t a big fan of my Guardian until it got to five star, 24 energy. Slapped my SB16 and TL6 on it and it rocks. As soon I can clone my CB12 that will replace the current load out but it’s a long haul to get the CB12 to six star so it is what it is for now.

It's tough to balance wants and needs, especially during the build up time when you are saving resources for end-game hangars and may not have the best weapons to fill out your bots. But... Personally, I don't think you can go wrong with running, at least, a 5 * Guardian. I have left mine at 5* Lvl 1 and it's a mini tank with an awesome offensive ambush/defensive de-buff ability and 24 EN. I will def upgrade it to 6* in the future.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say that KS, Panther, and Guardian are my top 3 mechs. 6 starring any of them would be worth it. Panther is worth it for the copy mostly... but the extra HP that leveling it up gives you, helps that bot, a lot. KS is worth it for the copy, the HP, and for the Melee damage increase. Guardian is worth it for the HP. Even if you never run the second one, that thing gets BEEFY as Hell as it advances in level and can easily fill the Tank role.

Just say Thanos. That build is a hoot. I didn’t run mine until I geared it w a railgun, I just didn’t care for it. Now? It makes me smiles. And because it’s so fun, It’s one of my biggest damage dealers.

I think alot of what has been said here is true - Guardian becomes viable end game when he can get the right weapons on him to shine. Before this, the builds you put on him take longer to kill targets and guardian is too slow to hunt them down or they are ranged weapons (like pulse cannons and long arms) so you wont get much use of the ability. At max energy, dual carb12s, thanos, and RG/mr8 are awesome on this mech. Guardian is honestly more a pvp mech imo. He counters so many commonly used mechs. People are used to using their ability to get a desired effect. So when you can shut them down and catch them off guard, you and your team can ruin their day.
Also guardian is generally a more defensive mech in nature given his slow speed. You wait for your opponent to do something and react. You can even use it to stop effects on your teammates. This is ideal for backing up your team when someone hits them with an emp. You can take it right off instantly. Definitely screws up enemy tactics.
If you want something more offensive that will use its ability, I would go with zephyr. His ability is where he shines and can use it well at whatever energy he is at. Amazing ambusher.

I’m running both Zephyr and Guardian right now, Zep because it’s fairly new and I’m having a pretty good run with it, and Guardian strictly for the extra fire power. It’s loaded with SB16/CB8, and it has its moments. I wasn’t aware that its crash disables enemies’ active abilities - this is good to know. I’ve seen my Panther’s stasis barrier disappear and not know why - I’m guessing now it was this. Does the Guardian have to be in range of the enemy that triggered it, or just in range of the teammates affected by it?

You have to make sure it's in the Guardian's forward view though as the System Crash is a forward arc, unlike the Zep's circular EMP. You can also cancel out the Cheetah's mines as long as you see them before they explode.

It's damned useful in a squad, when played as a support attacker.

Total lost causes, but I did disable somebody’s stasis before I got blasted into oblivion. I guess it was comm practice night, and I was target practice for a few games. Key here being, in those very lopsided defeats, I learned something very valuable about the Guardian. Now I’m gonna go looking for stasis barriers to dissolve and sparkly statue bots to pee on. 🤣

At least I get to run with those guys once in awhile and hopefully learn a few things. It’s already helped my game in the few days I’ve been with them. The last time I got steamrolled like that, I just left the game. The time before that, I fought to the last mech. It depends on my mood I guess. I play the game to blow off steam and relieve stress, not have it cause stress and create steam.
Once, I remember getting steamrolled and still made it on the MVP platform. That was a good moment!

The only game I left with other players was last week, squadding with a bunch of GD’s, and we got rekt 3 tourney games in a row against some DieMF heavies. 4th time I’d had enough and dropped at the start. One I can barely tolerate. Two, I start cussing loudly. After the third time, it’s like, what’s the f’n point, I already know how this ends, I’m not gonna sit here for another 5 minutes and be somebody’s target practice. I apologized to the team and hung it up for the night. And to be honest, I don’t really want to be a part of the steamrolling, either.

I think I heard you were running with Mike Larry and Hellhound in the mornings right? If so I might be able to join you for a couple if i can sneak away. I start work at 8am, but have my own office so i might be able to get quick matches in lol. But yea the hit squad has been working on practicing and dropping others for practice for when custom games get released and more clans play. Should be fun times!

I’m working from home right now, about the only positive thing to come out of the plague, so once in awhile I get some time between meetings to run a few during the day with whoever is on. I’m looking forward to squadding with as many of you guys as I can.

I wish there were enough human players to get two full human squads of similar power going at it. I've had those games where I'm part of a full squad - usually with DieMF for some reason we seem to be on at the same time - and we roll over the other team in less than a minute. Those games aren't very fun and I usually decline the next request to squad.

I do hope custom games comes soon though and that we can set the squads so it ends up fairly even. 5v5 is great, but when the power levels are vastly different (like at least 500 to 600 or more per player) its usually unfair.

Got my other job...dinner, walk the dog, eat dinner with the family, watch TV/movies, gardening, building my interlock garden wall, pull weeks, mow the lawn, walk the dog, pull weeds, burn weeds, water the lawns, make lunch, go grocery shopping, make breakfast, make dinner, clean the house, did I forget anything??

The people I played with were the real draw... stuck with a group that migrated from another game.
