First post here! Happy to make your acquaintance! A little history on me...
I've been a long time lurker and figured it's about time to make an account. I don't know if this is the forum and how far back this forum goes, but during the beginning I do remember people talking about Magnum Gepards being the thing to buy.
My first account is around 6 years old. I don't remember much from then, but do remember Mag Stalkers being the thing that annoyed me most! I also remember SURA in front of my Pinatas. I ran Leos and Natashas with Thunders and Pinatas. Gameplay was so different then.
Took a break from the game and eventually picked it back up again. I missed the dash meta, but reentered when Hellburners were broken. I was a low spender for a while, then bit the apple and went full meta with the usual Burner, Ares, Invader combo. Many people will throw sticks at me for saying this, but I still think Ares trains were one of the best displays of teamwork this came has had to offer. Even more of a rush when you can get one going with rando commandos.
I've settled into the more relaxed, smidge jaded, semi retired, free to play mode. The shotgun nerfs really rained on my parade. I've always mostly played a brawler and 90% of my hangar was shotguns. So, no more pushing ranks, discord, chasing meta, or any of that. I happily bounce between Expert and Master. Oddly enough I find more variety there than I did in several cycles of Champs meta. I still find the game fun though as long as I don't treat it like a job and find my own game within the game.
I play many different setups, but I'm enjoying my current hangar with Leadhose Fenrir, EMG Fenrir, Avenger Ao Jun, Hussar Raven (my current fav), and Ice Scorpion. That Scorpion is actually boring and is gonna get the boot for an ice Strider soon. I won a Hornet and am building it up next to round out my poison Rayker. I think it's gonna be a fun build.

It can grant you a pile of honor for healing and on the right map like Carrier/Canyon can still give reds fits. Well put about the dreaded Ares era; it did force people to play as a team. I've got 2/3's of an Nightingale built in the workshop, but lost motivation after the nerf to it. Come to think of it though, they still are pretty annoying to deal with even if they're vertically challenged with beacons. For healing points I do run a Nodens though. Lol the FenDeer is an ugly beast! I always see it as a Moose. So I got super lucky when the new pilots were added to the training center. The day they came out, I did one free re-roll and Wolff was there. Hired that fine lady right away. She runs the lead-hose. Such a game changer. |

Oh, your favorite bot is a Raven? Yep! I've got goons equipped now and even though I'm still leveling them damn they hit hard! With some thermonukes and a hop they're all of a sudden 30-40% more dmg output. Not to mention that double hop (bonus with jump drive) can grab almost any beacon. I loved db and plasma Griffins back in the day and Raven brings back the love and feeling in a respectable way. |

How do you fit heavy weapons to medium and light slots? With photoshop! Dragoon was the first to be released in the family, so I refer to any 600 blue burst plasma type thing as Goon. Marquess/Hussar/Dragoon/Cuirassier/Gendarme. I figured most people get the idea. I called them Hussies in the OP. These weapon names kill me. In looking up how to spell them I realized they're all some form of medieval mounted force .. horsemen and cavalry. The more you know! Looks like the new weapons on test server are just as fun; Hel, Skadi, Snaer. I'm just gonna call these Ice Tasers. |
