 Yes, the humble Hover. warrobots.fandom.com/wiki/HoverWhy is Hover the best bot? 1) aesthetics 2) affordability 3) agility 4) versatility 5) enjoyment 1) aesthetics:  This is the default weapon set up from purchase. The picture is a little blurry, but that has Remastered to blame. Hover looks like a sports car from its rounded fenders to the shiny blue paint job. It reminds me of the 1963 Corvette Grand Sport.  (sorry I couldn’t get a clearer pic) 2) affordability: Hover is easily built in the WS. Conversely, PIXO often has sales of Hover for $1.99 US. Hover is Tier III so getting to 2.12 costs 170.7M Ag and takes 60 days 13 hours. 3) agility: This is where Hover really shines. The special ability: Glide allows Hover to travel great distances in a short time. It is also able to reach greater heights than other jumping bots. It can also alter flight path mid glide. Cool down is a mere 7 seconds. I’m beginning to master the jump shot to reach enemies who duck behind cover. You can catch a Red mid-glide and then pump the fuel to facilitate a safe landing behind cover or continue out of range. Hover’s top speed without Boosters is 50kph but can Glide at 60kph. 4) versatility: Hover is a medium bot with 2 medium and 1 light weapon hard points. Hover functions well in any role from gunship to sniper. I prefer mid-range to close range:   Other, former forum members are more knowledgeable than I, but I’m gathering more data on a daily basis. 5) enjoyment: The sense of calm induced by the smooth glide of Hover is immeasurable. Learning new tricks in the midst of battle adds a level of excitement seldom experienced in other bots. A lot of Commanders like to boast that Hover is a good target while airborne, which it can be to some extent in inexperienced hands, but a Hover commanded by an experienced player is more a predator than prey. Hover takes some practice to get used to, and even more to master, but it instills a sense of accomplishment not afforded by a lot of bots which can be mastered with your wallet alone. Nice write up Browncoats4ever. I was an early adoptor of the Hover and from the moment of my first mid air dogfight I knew it was going to be one of my favourites. The fun level on...  The troll level of the old days on Yama flying in a Spydra build ands getting up into the buildings on the radar dish end and shooting reds from behind was priceless. |

The troll level of the old days on Yama flying in a Spydra build ands getting up into the buildings on the radar dish end and shooting reds from behind was priceless. Scorpion has decreased the effectiveness of those tactics somewhat. I use to like shooting from the relative safety of the rooftop on Shenzhen. Now the little pricks can magically appear in your sphincter. |

When you don't play the same bits all the time you soon learn how much things have changed when you find a nice old perch and then suddenly you find you are no longer untouchable. My skills of playing that bot for so long has really helped when piloting the Raven, AQ and AG. |

Hover really is the most fun. Here are some of my findings: You can stay in the air indefinitely- The key is in managing your vertical momentum.
- Very quick consecutive taps will conserve it while regenerating fuel at the same speed. There really is a tapping speed when you can stay in the air forever.
- Lower frequency taps will allow you to gently descend. When you've picked up some downward speed, resume normal tapping or you will accelerate down and wont be able to stop it.
- The upward motion is similar, prolonged taps will give you vertical momentum, but you need to resume normal fast tapping once you have it - lest you will run out of fuel.
Flying faster
- Using the jump active module you can greatly boost your speed. Nothing except pure speed pilot builds will keep up. I haven't measured it but it's definitely more than 60 kmph because i easily out-fly pursuers, Juns, anything fast.
- You have to be running full speed before using the jump active module, otherwise it is likely to make your jump slower.
- Start using fuel when you're in the apex or slightly after.
- Compensate with the speed of tapping. The initial speed by the jump module is conserved through the flight unless you take turns.

Revenge on Scorpions- It's time to apply the previous two points to get some revenge on the meta.
- On the carrier jump out of the ship with your module.
- Stabilize flight at the height of the lower deck. stay close to the ship so you're protected by the wall and you appear like fast bot rushing through the center to take red home beacon.
- watch the 「illegitimate child」s drown as they materialize behind you and have only 0.5 seconds to react before dying. My record is 3. I gotta start recording this.
Laugh at lockdowners- When you're flying lockdown cannot stop you. It will just lock your horizontal momentum, meaning you can't turn or slow down or speed up.
- Vertical control still applies.
Don't try to dodge Jun who is aware of you by flying into him
- The Jun's fire has some projectile speed as well.
- If you charge him this way, you will eat all the fire in an instant and likely die or get crippled.

Great write up. I agree that the Hover CAN be mastered and surprise opponents as high up as low champ league.
A couple years ago Earl inspired me (talked me into) leveling my Hover up to 10, and I used to dial up a custom on Shenz and just practice bouncing from rooftop to rooftop, it was a game in itself for me, an absorbing challenge.
Then I took into battle and sucked very hard and went back to my nice comfy Rogs. The end. 😂

I love Hovers. I love the way they fall down from the sky. There's always one non-believer I really like people playing non typical bots. Variety is fun. But... Oh no, he has a HOVER! Said noone ever. |
