I won't be investing in the Operation, but I quite fancy building a Cerberus as a backup in case/when my Lance gets pulverised by the new fire rockets. Or if I lose my rag entirely with the movement bug.
Any fans out there? I'd probably run it with MK2.4 PDB gear, but have fire, rockets, taser etc lying around.
TIA

I was running one (2.4) with dual atomizers (1.10) and a nucleon (2.3) with a maxed Last Stand and a maxed Fortifier; and a regular pilot at the rank of captain until the e-mg nerf when the said weapons become a joke. It is a fun bot to run; fast and deadly under right circumstances. I was also really hoping that the proposed cooldown buff would make it to the live server; it didn't but it was still ok. I pull it out of my lineup because I lacked the substitute mid-range weapons (mediums to be specific). Now that I am building up my medium weapon arsenal I am excited to put it back on my lineup. I plan to run viper and dual wasps (or pulsars). I wouldnt consider short range, or brawling weapons, because it is a fragile bot unlike its distant cousin Typhon. One suggestion I can give on this fun bot, if you experience serious lag issues do not consider running cerberus, or at least dont expect to use it to its full potential.

Once saw 1 that got my attention, he was hurting the Reds big time with MK 2 Thermite and Vortex ?).

Nope.
My only interest on that mech will come when that 10k Au skin is free. Then I'm gonna copy that dude's viper wasp build.

Now that's a build you can sink your teeth into! I'm not a huge Cerberus fan, however, I could make an exception for the above. Nice. Go melt reds.

That's actually really helpful, thanks man. I had hoped that he could just be tagged in for my Lance, but he has brawling weapons, and I have lag!

A true connoisseur! That's a lovely looking build.

Mine is 2.12 with maxed-out Fortifiers, an L10 Nucleon, twin 2.12 Punisher-Ts, and a standard pilot with the shield and armor skills, plus a couple of others. I really like it.

I never thought that it would be good as a sustained brawler given the weak Aegis (and alarmingly low HPs at 2.12). I was dreaming up a sort of ambush lock and dump role, using the Aegis to cover my sloppy play, maybe with Cryos. Meh, I don't want anything else, I'll probably just build one and see for myself.

I was pleasantly surprised with the Aegis. It feels like it can take a bit more punishment than you would think. I use it as my alarm to tell me to move once I see that I am getting lit up. I had atomizer/nucleon and that was ok I guess. This build is fine for now. I dont like the 12s cool down. But its sneaky effective and will stay in the line up.

I am a huge fan! My favorite bot.
I have it maxed with Cryos and two fortifiers (cryos are not maxed yet). I use mostly phase shift on it. I enjoy meeting Scorpions in it! When you learn how to play it you can really tell how annoying you are. :]
The thing is that most players underestimate this bot and attack it with too much confidence. It reminds me a bit of my past Rayker in that regard.
The only thing I'd do with it is buff DOT. Currently it is nonexistent.

The Aegis recharges FAST (especially with all of the enhancers I've got) so that helps. I wouldn't call it a brawler per se but it's brawler-adjacent.

The usual youtubers do a video every now and then because they can run it leveled to the hilt and juiced up with pilots/modules and then they promptly put the bot back in storage.
I used to run the viper/wasp build and it was good fun against ao mings.
Scorpions are still too prevalent so my cerb stays in storage.
You can't do anything to Shell and ravanas that are rampant in Champions League.
I would not invest resources into one but wouldn't mind getting my hands on a typhon. Better in every department

Better in every department That's absolutely fair comment. I run my Lance as a second drop princess repellent. It's very good at that, but if I'm still in it when I'm running into Arthurs, I just wait for it to die while I pick a new bot. Typhon is the one for premium play, obvs, but I'm mostly after maximising fun at the moment. Edit: I generally drop a Nucleon/Glacier Falcon third bot in gutter Masters, if I run into too many maxed Shells before they are nerfed, I'll probably just tap out again.

I noticed my profile still lists Cerb as my favorite bot. They are fun but the fun wears thin pretty quickly when you are constantly scanning bots within 350m range and hoping they are not a scorpion. In lower leagues, it still could be heaps of fun but Ravanas just brush off your ability and Blitz/Phantom with phase shift does the same which means the Cerb is mostly relegated to taking pot shots from long range.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Cerberus rendered obsolete with the introduction of Typhon? Isn't the Typhon Cerberus 2.0? Same basic abilities but Typhon has the standard OP medium bot 4-Medium weapons to Cerberus's 1-Heavy/2-Medium weapons. It was a Richard move by PIX to make Typhon so similar but higher powered since Cerberus was a community bot.
That said: I like variety in bots and weapon choices. If I hadn't been thrust into Champs so quickly, I may have more lower-leveled bots instead of a handful of maxed bots. It's hard to stop the gears from turning. So my Cerberus is resting at 1.1, with the desired weapons in place until one day in the future when it will to see the light of day and bask in the glory of a mech-strewn battlefield.
BTW: the SE Cerberus is fugly.

Now I squad with the kids and Pix did a bit of tanking for me, not so much. Everything has to be fun.

I ran my Cerberus up to 1.9 and was never a fan - just too weak sauce for me but running a taser build before the nerf hammer hit (Calamity/Scourges) - it showed promise as a medium range supporter. Now the Typhon on the other hand has rendered the rest of my hanger obsolete. Not many of them out there but I'm enjoying mine right now. EMP-ing scorpions is friggin' hilarious 🤣

I run a Cerberus withDragoon/Hussar, the pie-eater Legendary Pilot, double fortifiers and jump unit.
The extra range the Legendary Pilot gives to blackout makes a good synergy with the 600m range of the Plasmas. The Jump unit is for mobility, and it has earned it’s keep when the scorpions come calling. Even though the goon squad isn’t good for brawling it often gives you enough time to hit the Scorpion with blackout forcing him to port back to where he came from. The best benefit of going with double fortifiers is the increased shield regeneration which reduces your hiding time, and any extra shield HP is just a bonus
I try to use it as a 2nd line bot, supporting the brawlers who go in. I try to keep an eye out for Scorpions, as if they port behind the brawler I’ve adopted I can smack them with blackout before they can do too much damage. The shield usually buys you enough time to turn a center beacon from red to blue, but that will be the end of your run. At times you need to sacrifce a bot t get a beacon and a Cerberus usually can do it, but it will be the end of your bot unless the reds are off their game,
Another good use for the extended range on the blackout is harassing Mings and Minoses in the late game.
I’ll second those who’ve said the aegis shield is more an EWS telling you to get to safety now, not a true shield.
What I’d say about the Cerb is that it’s a finesse bot that rewards skillful handling and punishes you for mistakes. You just can’t pour Au and Ag into it and expect good results. You need to master how you want to run it.

I love my Cerberus. My most effectiv Mech (and i got a 2/12 Fenrir and a Bulwark too). Until last week my Cerberus was equiped with Thermite/Vortex (MK2/6, 2/12). Ideal for my style of play and 4 Reds per battle. Now my new Typhon got the missiles and 2 more Vortex. Especially effective against Scorpions (i hate that little Bsdrds). But the Cerberus now has Hornet/Wasp. Strong enough to bring down those flying Titans.
