The beauty of nowhere
There’s something about the phrase ‘the middle of nowhere’ that resonates with me, it might as well. I’ve lived in the middle of nowhere for ten years of my life, and I’ve grown love it. Living out far from any large towns, the easiest access to anything is the highway a couple miles from where I live. Seeing the stars at night, piercing through the velvet night skies, and breathing the air, it always smells different depending on the season.
There’s a lot of things to love about nowhere, and that’s what saddens me leaving it behind.
Going from nowhere to the middle of a neighborhood, in the middle of a large city no less, is going to be hard for me. Not only because of how many friends I’ll be leaving behind, but many other reasons. I’ll miss the open space of fields, the crowded, dense underbrush of our woods, and the open soaring forests taking up the areas around Coreland, the fields, the rivers, the ponds, and the empty open skies. The rain, the never ending winds Oklahoma is known for, and the sandstone bluffs and dry river bottoms.
The middle of nowhere, for all its remoteness, all its solitude, is beautiful. It’s a place of peace, far away from the chaos of the modern world, alone in the middle of nowhere. It’s where I feel like I belong as odd as it sounds. Me, a 16 year old male making heavy electronic music, who generally doesn’t look like your average definition of a country boy, I consider myself one. When the family who is buying our house came over to familiarize themselves with it before they moved in, I found myself wondering how exactly they would feel in this world of nowhere. Here’s to hoping they love it as much as I do.

^^^ That'a a keeper." Keep 'em coming. Enjoyable read.
I live near DC. I MISS real stars. We get like 30 per night, Oklahoma gets 300,000 per night. :-(

_FakeNews_: I assume you're a reader to some degree. If you want to do a deep dive in folks that REALLY know how to write and write differently try: thebookerprizes.com/fiction/2020My wife's a huge fan of this prize and has been following it for decades. You will not find Patterson or King on their annual lists. (Those authors are successful but they don't necessarily push the boundaries of the literary world.)

I used to live close to the middle of nowhere (just north of latitude 62). I'd go there when I could to revel in the serenity of solitude.
Then I'd leave before the mosquitos and no-see-ums ate me alive after licking the deet off me.
Now I live in exburbia where civilization is on the march and eating away at my little patch of happiness.
The to move gets closer... one more kid left in school...
