Hey guys, been a long time since I have been here...
Started playing on the weekend and must say I have the enjoyment that I had with War Robots at the beginning!
Still learning the game, up to professional league and loving the mechs, some are really different.
Still not familiar with weapons and how they act yet though. Having fun with Killshot but not sure where to go with his weaponry. However all I have read is a bit higher level than me and I dont want to waste too many resources (too many for my liking but hey). I'm up to 3000 XP any advice on weapons load out to try/put resources into? My play style is very much in your face blow stuff up and get the hell out of dodge, think old Griffin DB style. Anyone help?

Take a look at the stickies in this sub forum. Redfiend has tons and tons of good information about the game, the mechs and the weapons. Are you going to be F2P or are you ok with spending some money? One of the cool things about this game is that things are pretty balanced. For example, the Common type of gear that you get are actually similar in power to the Uncommon and Rare type of gear when you level it to similar levels, and its usually easier to level them than the "higher" grade stuff. The exceptions are the Prototype gear, but even they have weaknesses that can be exploited. Don't throw too many resources into the 2EN and 4EN weapons right now. As you rank up your mechs, they can pretty much all handle the 6EN weapons. The RPG4 and AC4 are both decent weapons and you can rank those up once or twice if you want, but not much after that. The RPG6 is a mainstay in my hangar and I actually prefer it over the Missile Rack 6 (MR6). You may have noticed that some weapons seems to progress naturally into others. For example, there's no AC6, but instead, there's a Pulse Cannon 6. That's because the Pulse Cannons are an overall upgrade to the Autocannons, but there are still some things the AC does better, for example, accuracy. The PC's don't get accuracy buffs until you start ranking them up, but when you do, look out, they are great! The Shotgun 4 is another weapon that is often overlooked early in the game. I myself didn't start using it until I'd gotten "better" weapons. If you look at the numbers, it actually has the same damage as the RPG6. The difference is that you have to use the SGs at close range, and early in the game, there aren't many mechs that can let you do this. Until you get the Shadow with it's speed and stealth, I think the only mechs that can use the SG4 well are the Killshot and the Juggernaut. One has extreme speed and the other one a shield. Get the Javelin weapons as soon as you can, but don't over upgrade the Jav4 as you will replace this weapon with the Jav6, and the Jav4 isn't very powerful later on in the game. As for mechs, the game offers a decent mech early on for a few bucks: Ares. When I first got it, I thought wow, it's OP! In actuality, it's not and in fact, for the role of tank, the Juggernaut is actually better once it gets leveled up. You might want to pick up the Ares, or just stick with the Jugg. If you're F2P, I'd say stick with the Jugg. Me, I bought the Ares, but I don't even use it anymore and actually prefer the Jugg over it. The Ares is a great sniper bot though, so if you like long range games, you might consider that, but the Panther is just as good in the sniper role and better in the CQC types of battles. All the mechs have different types of roles, with the Panther being the Jack of all Trades. It's arguably the best overall mech in the game. It's got good speed, amazing energy capacity, and it's shield is indestructible (except by Guardian's ability).

Yeah have been reading them but, as I havent used any of the later weapons I dont even know what they do in the first place! Cheers for the advice.
Are there clan's in this game yet or is there not enough players?

There are no formal clans perse, but as you start facing more and more human players, you'll see some names with a prefix, like BAM or AO. I play often with folks from BAM and AO as we're on at the same time. We tend to plow through the other team when we get a full squad going.
The game offers suggestions for Friends all the time whenever you play with human players so keep an eye out for folks who play the same time as you.

Brought the fun of War Robots of old, back.
Minor quibble with one thing Koalabear said... well, minor in impact but slightly complex in explanation.
Ares vs Juggs is a lively debate... personally I prefer both... just that each are used in a bit of a different setting.
Juggs is better in Solo situations. The shield is 360degrees and isn't on a timer so it's there until it runs out. You can tank or aggro/get the attention of the Reds and either distract or kill a few of them, and then get to safety and reset the shield fairly often once you get familiar with it. It also upgrades HP a LOT as you rank up... mine is 5 stars (Rank 5) and is a beast.
Ares is better as a team/squad based tank. It requires more tactical decisions. It can protect at least 2 other Blues that follow you into the Red's fire for a short time (hopefully long enough to kill the Reds in question, if not make them get into cover). Again, as it ranks up, it gets a LOT of HP and shield HP, very similar to Juggy. The fact that the shield can not only be shot away, but is on a timer, makes it more of a planning bot... but for me this is offset by being able to stop all or most of a Red's volley of Javelins. It usually takes some extreme angles for them to go over it... otherwise as long as you are facing the direction that they are coming from, they won't get through. Again, yes, Jugg's shield will block them too... but you can block them for a Teammate in the Ares... which is helpful in Tourney, where every kill counts. The obvious downside of not having your flanks protected is a factor in its use, but being aware of your surroundings can negate that con, a lot. Plenty of places that it can be used in a way that basically makes you a mobile wall.
They both have the same EN capacity, so weapon load-out is similar in thought:
Note I am mostly talking about EN 16, and up, capacity.
*Pulse Cannon 8 x2 or Carbine 8 x2 are both good on these bots as you have the HP and Shield to take the time to put whole mags into targets.
*Also, Jav 6 x2 is deadly on both bots... but usually as a mid-late game drop in CPC from a beacon that is closer to the fight. You can spawn in center and have range to affect most home/side beacons, or at the least, get them into range fairly quickly. Tourney fights are just in the air as to whether Javs can be used to good effect, very map dependent.
*MR 8 x2 is deadly on both. You can afford to go a few seconds after unloading them without worrying about dying in 1v1 battles as your shield will keep you alive while reloading or ambling over to cover a lot better than on, say, the Guardian, which will be left swinging in the wind without something to protect it.
Other builds work too, but those are the main ones you will see, IMO.
In closing... I would say that Juggy is easier to get the most out of, but that Ares has more of a potential to be game changing in end-game scenarios when running with a competent group. So, like I said, it depends on the setting. If you are F2P, Juggy is prolly the no-brainer option... but if you have the ability to get the Ares and take it to end-game levels, it is just as good in its own way.

I second everything Tricky just said about the differences between the Jugg and Ares. He mentioned a lively debate. It usually centers around the even more subtle differences between them, but as both Tricky and Koalabear would agree, it's a matter of preference and play-style. And nothing says you even need to run a tank (that's what these 2 bots classified as). Many prefer the increased speed of some of the lighter scout/support bots (Shadow, MD, Cheetah, etc.) or the incredible firepower potential of the heavy EN bots (Paragon, Guardian, Panther). All that said, there are other thread you can look through that compare and contrast the Ares and Jugg. If you like tanks, I'd definitely check those out.

So when are we going to create a clan?

So when are we going to create a clan? Attempts have already been made, but nothing has materialized as of yet. I think some (including myself) are waiting a bit until they roll out IG clan features. RN, most clans are going with the tried and true discord server route to organize. Also, welcome back to the forums!

So when are we going to create a clan? There was some talk a bit back about creating our own forum prefix. TBH, I balked at it cause there's no real in-game benefit and the cost to change your handle is steep when you're trying to save A-coins, and there's a very finite number of characters you can have in your handle, and when I tried, I could barely fit in a three character prefix and my complete handle name with no space in-between. The Friend function works really well for getting squads going as it shows which of your Friends are online. I'm sure that if/when they add a clan feature, we'll get a forum clan off the ground.

I mean, I grew to hate it so much I deleted my account before deleting the app. I only wish I could have deleted that a-hole self-proclaimed mech arena channel moderator in the process - then at least I’d have one fond memory from it.

Though a long way off for you, I'd still recommend some planning on where you do want to go in game with a final hanger. Note that most things can be done with only 3 bots and your hanger can remove bots if you do not want to run them. You can do a single bot hanger for CPC (beacons) games but need a minimum of 3 bots to do the Tournament where the most resources are earned. When bots get ranked up to RANK 6, you get a 2nd copy of the bot and at the same level as the 1st. So it is possible to run say 2 Killshots, 2 Panthers, and another bot of your choosing. Also, any weapon that is Energy 10 or above only gives 1 weapon when unlocked. It has to be taken to RANK 6 to get its 2nd copy. Some of us have found it advantageous to leave some of the very low energy weapons locked and un-upgraded. Reason is the recent challenges that have rewards doing a certain amount of upgrades. Much cheaper to upgrade some of these weak weapons than your higher leveled ones. Finally, there is a thread here on the forum that includes a spreadsheet of upgrade costs for each rank and level along with A-Coin costs for ranking up. You will note that lower energy bots (Lancer, M.D., and Cheetah) are the most expensive to rank up while the highest energy bots (Paragon, Panther, and Guardian) are the cheapest to rank up! This is good to have in mind as A-Coins (or credits) do not come quickly. Here is that speadsheet made by Redfiend.

if you are more budget or F2P, then I would only rank up the highest version of each weapon you are interested in. In the end you will have way more weapons than you can use.
