Actually, you did the right thing. You wouldn't have saved any Ag. Now you can get your Glacier to 2.7+ pretty quickly by watching ads this weekend.

The speed up weekends aren't as good as the Silver reduction but oh well.

IMO this shows Pixonic is desperate to hold on to the F2P and minnows. Some claim the user base is down by 50%.

But the thing here is that there is not much point in upgrading defunked stuff if someone wants to build a strong hanger. It is misguided to think that leveling up obsolete gear will produce better outcomes against maxed meta gear which doesnt even hit the workshop before its first direct or indirect nerf.
