I have two computers that my kids use for school. Both are hard wired to our modem. No wifi on either computer. One has a monitor that seems to be having issues, flickering on and off like its power is being interrupted. It randomly makes the same noise as a new USB item has just been connected. The second computer has no issues when it's on by itself, but turn on the first one and they both start making the noise. Did all the standard checks and I'm at a loss. Any ideas what, or why this is happening?

Both of them share the same power extension? Or both of them plugged to the wall socket (not sharing)?

Thanks. I think I'll skip repairing and get a new one.

Both of them share the same power extension? Or both of them plugged to the wall socket (not sharing)? Sharing a power strip. They're not so secretly communicating. I. Can't. Stop. The. Signallllllllll.

Yeah, maybe it's just faulty power strip, try a different power source before getting a new monitor.

Yeah, maybe it's just faulty power strip, try a different power source before getting a new monitor. Tried that with the same result. The TV is 6 or 7 years old and monitors are fairly cheap this time of year. I'll be like, baby the monitor is dying, and look, a 75" is on SALE! 😂

Signallllllllll. Oh, you CAN stop "the signal" but you'll need to wear a fashionable tin foil hat. I've been signal-free for 8 months now and loving it. Anyway, sorry for your tech troubles. I hope you resolve them quickly and cheaply.

I'm so lazy to find the article back. But this might be the reason. Your monitor might produce some electromagnetic wave now and it interfere with other equipment Edit: here is the link thenextweb.com/insights/2020/09/22/old-tv-breaks-internet-village/

There's a lot of possible causes. If the monitor if flickering and going off and on there's also possibility that it could be a faulty cable. This would be more the case for HDMI and DVI as o0pposed to VGA, but before you spend the money on a new display swap the cables between the good and bad monitors and see if the problem follows the cable.

There you go trying to ruin my evil plot! Now it will have to accidentally get dropped... oh, boys, come carry this monitor down the stairs. Daddy can't pick it up by himself. 🤣

Soooo did you track the problem down or are you just getting a new monitor? I've got 3 boys 2 1/2, 5, and 7 at home that get into all the wrong things the moment you turn your head. But, I'll swap cords when I get a moments peace...unless I fall asleep first.😉

Heh, you have your hands full. I have one in college and one in high school. I'm past the physical drain phase and into the financial drain phase.
