If "necroing" a thread is so bad, why don't threads have a staledate before deletion?
How do these particular forums work mods? Is that a thing you can do, like x time of inactivity and auto delete?
Why would you make necroposting illegal and just leave all these corpses just lying around asking for it?

They are good reference posts for "research" to go back and see how many times we have been shafted by Pixo over the years.
Maybe they should get auto locked after a certain date to stop them being resurrected?

Firstly, this forum is an archive of the history of War Robots.
Mainly, necro-posting is not so much about the date of the op (original post), but whether or not the subject matter of our comment is currently relevant. If someone presently gives answers about questions asked several years ago for example, not only is that irrelevant, but it bumps the thread into recents, and people forget to check the date of the op, then a series of irrelevant dialogue takes place until someone realizes the error.
Necroposting is posting comments to subjects no longer relevant. We depend on member maturity to not merely check dates, but to keep the content of conversations relevant so we reduce confusion. Strictly Striders is a good example of an old thread that remains current. If within that thread you reply to someone’s question they posted a year ago = necroposting, since they either already got their answer a long time ago, or maybe they aren’t even here anymore lol.
Keep it present and relevant, easy.

Most are opinions, so why can't I make an opinion off an old post. Out of curiosity, what is the period of time one decides is "too old" and requires the services of a shady magician? Because the thread I'm indirectly referencing is less than. A. Month. Old.

If it has been more than a year since the last reply, it's a necro...but I'm npt really searching unless it's highly specific. Continual adjustments have made every article wrriten on this forum at least halfway irrelevant at some point. Take it from somebody who analyzes every critical detail - I get boned everytime they change something. What's interesting is the predictions we made before they became reality. Some took years, like Typhon and the EMP concept I was on about 5 years ago (using Tiberian Sun as a reference)

Also for transparency /clarity I'm talking about about a post in the rants section that was 27 days old and was the fifth thread in the board. To me, even if that thread was 5 thousand years old, if it's so bleak in activity that it's in the top threads... Im gonna mother「fluffernutter」ing post in it!

Personally, I don't really have much against reviving an old thread or post. When I first came here, I'd come from forums where information tended to stay relevant for a long time, and I had to force myself into the habit of checking the dates of the posts prior to mine to see how old they are. The problem I see is when people do not take note of the date and start posting on the thread as if no time had passed, and a casual reader skimming through the posts can get misinformation. I think that if you're going to revive an old thread, it's common courtesy to use verbiage like: "reviving this thread because of new information" at the beginning of your post to let everyone know ahead of time.

For the most part we seem to self regulate rather well when it comes to Necros... but I don't consider a rant thread a month old a major transgression, personally. The spammer that necroed the one about Dashbots during their introduction through the BM, however, I would like to tell them to stop twisting the knife and let us not remember the good times, before all that. Let me foster my apathy towards the game in peace! Damnit!

This is a weird message...
-use search function, don't create new posts for existing topics -dont post in old threads.
Mind you, I feel like that's everywhere now not just here so it's not a slag at mods here. That aside, other than technical or strategic information, what is the actual reason you don't want old threads posted in? I'm. Not being funny I'm serious.
Why do forums everywhere hate "necroposting" to cartoonish rage levels...

santaclaus I already explained it. Try to keep it current and relevant. End of discussion.
