Can anyone give me the Readers Digest comparison of Javs, Rocket Mortars, and Missile Racks? What are the differences, pros, and cons...THANKS! Looking for loadouts for Guardian and or Panther.

Ok, Reader's Digest Version:
Jav6 - Target lock, powerful with good chance of critical, rules most Tournament maps, on CPC, can either be an asset or liability, depending on map and battle conditions. I call it the Sucker Punch weapon, especially on the Shadow cause it comes out of nowhere and takes off a ton of damage.
Rocket Mortars - I have the RM8 and the RM12. The RM8 comes as a pair while the RM12 is solo until it is maxed. You'll have fun for a few games with the RM series, but after a while it gets boring. I do find use for them occasionally for tasks like: "use x mech to kill x mechs >100m" or something like that. They can be useful on the open Tournament maps, and useful on a couple of CPC maps, but honestly, I wouldn't throw resources at this.
Missile Racks - skip the MR6 and get the MR8 when you can. It will rock on the Guardian for a while, but any of the mechs that can carry it can rock it too. I like mine on my Zephyr and it's great except when I run into high HP opponents that can soak up the damage and then kill me before I get back into cover. Missile Racks are best used at close range and against slow moving foes. They will miss most of their shots against strafing mechs - even slow ones, so it's best to shoot them straight into someone's face.
I've used the RPG6 and MR6 a lot, and in my opinion, the RPG6 when ranked up, is the over all better weapon.

BTW, everyone that knows what a reader's digest is obviously over 40 and likely over 50. That's not really significant, but just an observation of mine. Also, I'm 39, so I've heard tell of these mythical publications.

Javs are the love children of spirals and aphids. They loose efficacy against higher Armored targets later on in the game, but remain valuable indirect fire tools.
Rocket mortars are the love children of Noricums and Zenits. The only reliable version is the 12 cost variant. All mortars cover the same area in terms of splash down. 8 and 10 fire few rockets, so their hit registration can be iffy, while the 12 version fires the most rockets in the same area of effect, so they have the highest chance of hitting multiple rockets on mechs in the splash zone.
Missile rack 6 are weapons of preference. Their only advantage is how quickly they put damage out. Other 6 cost weapons for their effective ranges either deal more damage overall(Plasma6) have better accuracy(RPG6), or literally can't miss(Shotgun 4)
Missile rack 8 is the burst weapon. Like missile rack 6, it's main advantage is the amount of damage it puts out in a short period of time. Other weapons in the energy slot deal more damage overall, but take more time to do it.
Both missile racks are only reliably accurate around the 30-40 meter mark depending on the enemy mech's speed, and their reload time leaves their user's open to being severely punished if they can't kill or retreat after a salvo.

Can anyone give me the Readers Digest comparison of Javs, Rocket Mortars, and Missile Racks? What are the differences, pros, and cons...THANKS! Looking for loadouts for Guardian and or Panther. Javs -
Lock-on guided missiles -|- 20ish to 75M range -|- Critical chance is increased every rank up.
Opinion - powerful and useful well into the end game. Map dependent to a degree. Use them on bots that can position quickly and bots that are more "support" based. Many folk prefer them on the KillShot. It is a good bot for them, but so are late game light bots. They are powerful and do the job. Worth having and ranking up (mine are R5... that critical chance helps)
Rocket Mortars - Unguided plunging fire munitions... very powerful and large splash -|- 30 (or so) min range with a very large max range -|- Points increased with every rank up
Opinion - Very map dependent. Slow reload makes for a targeted approach... you must have cover and/or protection to use for any length of time against competent opponents. Mostly not great in CPC unless with a team that you KNOW will cap beacons. You have no close range defense so something like a Guardian or Para or KS works well for these... since you can use your ability to protect you or escape from the inevitable hunt-down that the Reds will engage in after you kill a few of them. I don't like them, but they work in specific circumstance.
Missile Racks - Unguided Rockets* -|- Med Long range (I don't remember the numbers ottomh) -|- Decent splash radius that increases upon rank up.
Opinion - I love these. They are my jam. R5-ed these recently and will R6 them. Can use them out to a little passed 100m, at least, but since they travel sort of slow you have to time it very well. Prolly better used in more Med to Short ranged encounters. They unload quickly and have a lot of damage for that unload, but they shoot their full salvos all at once... so a miss is quite sad. I like them on Killshot b/c it is so mobile and can use the melee to make up for any missed shots or to finish off a particularly beefy opponent. Plus, I can get to the good angles and have the ability to dodge RPG return fire with the Killy Shimmy (y'all know what I am talking about). Ares, Zephyr, and Guardian are other popular builds... Ares for the protection it offers to keep you safe while unloading or after unloading when you can't fight back; Zeps because it can EMP Reds and leave them a sitting duck for all that damage; Guardian because you can disable shields and then let loose the love directly to their HP.

40 here...
My grandmother had the entire series of their novels, up to a certain year... 4-6 condensed books in every volume... crazy. That's where the "readers' digest version" came from iirc; 'condensed' is a good synonym. Also, they had a publication that had various articles and jokes and maybe excerpts from the books that were in their novels... can't remember for sure... but my mother had a sub that came to the house.
God I haven't thought about that in years....
EDIT dukeofadvil - can you throw "MA" in the title, please, sir?

Dang! You guys all probably have played Doom on Dial-up. Try Wolfenstein 3D before there was multiplayer... same company, pre-Doom...
I remember someone copied it to a floppy for me and I took it home. Pops let me install it and it changed gaming in our house forever! Wore a few spacebars out looking for secrets on the walls...

A little later there was one I loved... Serious Sam. Think there was a recent remake of that one... And Doom Eternal and Doom 2016 were/are a blast! Crazy how things evolve!
EDIT... anyone remember Hexen? Like a magic version of the FPS genre and you could fly iirc...

Descent was cool, but I never got into it. The 3D travel was great at first, but after a while, I lost sense of up or down and it just became one hallway after another. Another cool game was Aliens vs Marines, where you could play as an Alien. Only played a short demo though.
