I know there’s at least one other player in here who’s started a new game account, and I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if there are more, considering how easy it is to run multiple accounts. So why not share restart experiences.
In a span of a little over 3 hours, starting over fresh from scratch, I’ve managed to blow through all my tokens and earnable XP, get to 1,272 XP and unlock Panther. Knowing how these mechs and weapons play, it’s all I can do to not acquire stuff as it comes available, but I’m sticking to my guns (no pun intended .. ok, maybe a little pun intended) and running just autocannons and RPG’s. And I’m only unlocking the sizes my current level mechs can handle, which means just the 2 and 4 flavors of both right now.
Unfortunately I had to acquire Juggy and unlock the third mech slot to be able to play tournament (I forgot about that), otherwise I was planning to run just two slots for awhile. But the plan is to stay in Div 9, which means playing very little CPC, and earn everything I can in tournament, so 3 slots and 3 mechs it is.
Right now at this early stage, my best mech by far is Paragon with autocannon 4’s. It takes time and a lot of situational awareness to take down reds, but it’s the only mech that’s keeping me in the mix in tourney games. Juggy at only EN6 just doesn’t have the punch to kill reds fast enough. I’ve got RPG 2/4 on Juggy, and autocannon 2’s on Lancer. Usable in CPC, but nothing to write home about in tournament. Another few days of crates and whatever tournament loot I can scrape up should start to reveal if this minimalist approach is anywhere near viable. If nothing else, it sure is forcing me to adapt and change my play style.
I’m also not spending anything on this account (I’ve already spent way too much on the other one), so the only thing lost will be time if I decide to ditch this experiment. But that’s another tough bit of self discipline, not jumping on all those cheap offers that come and go early on for mechs and guns that I know would make things easier in the short term. But I’m determined to see how long this early game gear will be usable having nothing else to divert resources to. Maybe at some point if it looks like I’ll stick with this account for the long haul I’ll grab some offers for resources (less likely now that they nerfed the $4.99 crate offer), but that won’t be for awhile, if at all.

The damage output from shotguns isn't a joke at low levels, as they're essentially Missile Rack 2-4. As EN cap goes up, MRs and Carbines 🤷🏽♂️

I haven’t restarted or created a second account but I do realize how I’d do things differently if I started over.
I’d consider my acquisitions more carefully. The plasma cannons 4s didn’t really impact play much. Shotguns weren’t my style. Nor are longarms, but I’m making use of them. Adding weapons to you hanger adds variety to you daily tasks, but it might not be the variety that you want.
I did skip rpgs for some reason. If I could start over I’d probably make use of the 6s. Been beaten up by so many of those.
I’d acquire jav’s sooner. Those weapons are are great fun. Plus, the paragon is a good early platform for it. Just be aware that para’s get remarkable squishy in higher league play.

Wow, you guys have good self control! If I started another account, I'd probably do things exactly the same as before!

so is Ares any good to purchase or not Yes, if you don' t mind spending a few bucks when you get it as an offer early in the game. It will last you for a long time. I only stopped using mine because when the Juggernaut is ranked up, it's the better overall tank.

If i statted over i would streamline my unlock selection even more, lot of stuff i wouldn't bother with to preserve resources and avoid daily challenges

so is Ares any good to purchase or not Yes... I like it as much or better than the Jugs... but just know that you can get by without it... it's more of a preference thing. I use both my Ares and my Jugs many times.
End game does seem to have more Jugs than Ares, though... so keep in mind that there is still some debate over what's better. But for 85 - 90% of the game you should be able to rock it without regret. Personally, I use it differently than I do the Jugs and don't automatically assume they are interchangeable in my setup. Ares is better at Team Pushes to Beacons... for example... while Jugs is just better at tanking, in general. They both get a good bit of HP. The shield mechanics are the biggest difference, which also changes the purpose of what I use them for, like I said above.
Ares is just a bit more nimble than the Jugs... as well... but it's not enough to give it the edge, in my book.
Basically, if you want a deployable shield that helps protect your team but regens slower than the Jugs' personal shield, Ares will work for you. Playing in squads or Tourney makes a star of Ares. If you are Leeroy Jenkins' spirit reincarnated, then Jugs is prolly the answer.

If i statted over i would streamline my unlock selection even more, lot of stuff i wouldn't bother with to preserve resources and avoid daily challenges It’s all I can do to keep my hangar ‘streamlined’. I was looking really hard at jav 4’s for Paragon, then finally slapped myself back to my senses. These other weapons are tempting as they come unlocked, and I have to keep reminding myself that the early-game gear can be just as good when it’s leveled up. Those daily challenges are part of it, but I really want to see how far I can take RPG’s and autocannons. I know I’ll have to cave in and break the chain at some point when all my mechs have outgrown them, but even then I’ll still seriously limit my options. I can see RM8’s, PC8’s, and maybe jav 6’s as my next acquisitions, but those are still a ways off. I will say, though, that the ‘streamlined’ challenges aren’t always a picnic. There’s almost always one or two that takes a couple of hours or more to knock off. And as I noted yesterday, completing them all while staying in a low division is really the biggest challenge.

Alternatively, just forget about completing all of the challenges, buy a bunch of tournament tickets in the first couple of weeks, and focus on making the three mechs you have big bois to grind higher than professional by the third week.

Danny LinguiniIt's really not worth it, all the exp is going to do is unlock weapons you don't have resources to acquire, and give you chump change credits/coins that do little more than cause your CpC rating to increase. If you do want a perfectionist fix, I'd say only try to complete the entire suite of dailies when the EXP track gives the steel crate token boosters. Blueprints will come slower in general because they cut out the 2x rewards for consecutive log ins on the calendar. I'm sticking with Shotguns-> MR/Long Arms-> Carbines/Railgun
