Very fun indeed. Those who love Strider, will love Minos.
Needs to be played more tactically, like an oversized Strider. Most players I watch run it are too aggressive, not making good tactical choices, and not using it to its full potential
Generally speaking, it is not meant to go head to head against others titans, especially frontal assaults on Arthur or Nodens.
What is Minos full potential? It’s main functions? Imo, it is for
- clearing away non-titans
- running beacons
- overtaking beacons through dominating non-titans
- pushing enemies away from allies
- getting quickly to flanking positions against titans
- taking out 600m Mings
Now generally speaking, because of these roles, if you replace a strong titan with Minos, imo you somewhat reduce your teams ability to counter titans. However, the impact you have against titans will largely depend on good tactical choices. A lot of people keep saying Minos is a brawler, but against other titans it needs to be an ambusher or opportunist. If you want to frontal brawl titans with Minos, you need:
- High level Minos (mainly Core and Hull)
- 2 maxed Antimatter
- 2 maxed Plated Armor, or 2 maxed Self-Fix
- 3 Squall
OTHER WEAPONS
- Cuirassier are suboptimal
- Cyclone are ok, but the loss of target-lock when brawling is a real deficit that is not easily mitigated due to the haphazard movement of this titan
- Retaliators are excellent, but because you only have 3 as opposed to 4 like Nodens has, that means tearing into an Arthur or Nodens will take longer, so you have to be more careful; rushing them head on is an overconfident mistake that many Minos pilots are learning the hard way. Maxed Arthur or Nodens can whoop a maxed Minos in face to face, hence my opinion about ambusher/opportunist.
In squad, Minos can accomplish a lot more with the support of Nodens. In solo, a friend of mine recommended 2 maxed Self-fix in place of 2 Plated Armor if possible, to make up for the absence of Nodens support.
My final thoughts are that Minos should be brought out as early as possible to fulfill its main functions, and that if pilots give it more time and careful tactical consideration instead of being so impulsive, they will be more effective with it. What is interesting to me about this is it is said that the main issue for an astrological Ares is they are too head on without control, and their main task or challenge is to learn to control the force of that head on charge. It is the same if you want to be an excellent Minos pilot - knowing where and when to use your charge; where and when to be; where and when to attack. If you see a Minos pilot being conservative and tactical, beware!
