Ok, I have PC6 and PC8. The PC6 came with the Ares and it served me well in the lower Divisions. But, as I moved up, I shelved it in favour of PC8. I never bothered with the PC4, but I'm seeing more and more Shadows, likely same rank as mine, with PC6/PC4 setups. They do really well against my mechs when they catch me in cool down or reload. I'm happy with the SG4 on my Shadow, but sometimes, the inconsistency of the Shotguns bother me. Sometimes I can kill a mech in one clip, sometimes I'm left with a frustrating sliver of HP, and sometimes I barely scratch the HP of my target. I always try to get within optimal range, and it's weird that my damage consistency is all over the map. I guess sometimes I get a critical hit??
Anyway, back to the PC4...
I've been running my Shadow with a MR6/SG4 combo and it works, except for the times when I've fired my load and am trying to retreat before my stealth wears off...I have nothing to shoot back with.
I've also run my Shadow with Jav4/6, and it's a decent set up too, and surprisingly does better in CPC than Tournament. I really really want to get my Shadow up to R5 so that I can get EN12 on it and field a pair of EN6 weapons, but I don't think that's gonna happen any time soon. Took me almost 3 months to get the blueprints I needed to bring it to R4.
So...has anyone here run the Shadow with Pulse Cannons? Is it worth the investment to get PC4 and bring them up to R4? Or, should I just wait until I can rank up my Shadow and then run pair of PC6 if I so feel like it?
For some context, I'm also kinda regretting the MR6 purchase as I find I don't really have a need for it.

I don't have experience with PC4s but i wouldn't spend Acoins to rank it up (necessary for accuracy), i haven't on the PC6 either, i like the rpg6 more.

I say make do with what you have but aim for EN 12.
I think you would be better served by those MR 6s you don't like, on the Shadow, especially once R4 or R5... it's kind of a situational build but you could do some great flank shots from 60m+ on unsuspecting folk, while stealthed, then beat feet back to safety out of the LoS... rinse and repeat. Especially at R5 once the blast radius is as big as it can get.
Or stick with the PC 6s.
For now, I personally found the Jav 4+6 combo the best for R4 Shadow when SGs don't cut it.

The Jav4/6 does work a lot better than I would have thought. I wasn't happy with just Jav4's, but who knew that changing one to Jav6 would make such a difference? I think it's because I've ranked my Jav6 to R4 while my Jav4 remains at R3, so when the Jav6 gets a critical, the Jav4s also benefit. Still, I only like this in CPC games where you can take advantage of lone aggressors trying to capture a CP. In Tournament, I still prefer dual Jav6 on the KS for the extra oomph and the Melee Dash to finish off reds.

I'm kinda enjoying the RPG4/6 combo on the Shadow now too. Geez, I should have tried this sooner! It actually works really well in both CPC and Tournament games.

But yeah, both he and I said, above that in other comments, that we have used the Jav 4+6 combo on the Shadow, and it works well... mostly in CPC though, because it's just such a good beacon runner, OR as a sneak attack flanker.
For Tourney... The Jav combo is not so great at killing unless you have both the 4 and the 6 ranked up high enough to get the good criticals and are good at angling the javs to hit from the side or rear to get the multipliers for damage. Or you can focus on hurt mechs with not a lot of HP... kill steal, etc. Either way with its low health and low power, you have to have some good rank on all the equipment to really get the most out of it for Tourney.
IMO, YMMV

Pulse 4 can be replaced by leveled up Autocannon 4 the same way a Carbine 8 can be replaced with a leveled pulse 8. Biggest difference is how 4 cost weapons all have limited applications closer to the end game. I'd say stick with keeping Shadow as a specialized mech until it can use dual 6en weapons unless you don't care about min/max resource efficiency.

The upgrade pack deals, do they only come up once per mech? Last time I upgraded my Shadow, I got that pop up deal and took it. I just leveled up my Shadow again and would have loved to be able to buy more blueprints and credits but none came up. I'm now at R4.6 and need like 69 blueprints to bring it to 7 and who knows how many A-coins to rank it to R5.

Interesting builds for shadow. He is one I really want to invest in, but damn are those light mechs expensive. Both Shadow and MD are late game passion projects of mine. I really don't understand why the light mechs are so expensive.
As for the the pulse cannon 4 - I kind of recently did a review on pulse cannons and i think the only one worth any time is the PC8. The PC6 is ok, but Id almost always use MR6 or RPG6 and even Plasma 6 before it. And i cant think of many bays were I need that many 6 energy weapons. The PC8 though is legit and compares well with the carbine 8s. Ive been trying to steer most people who don't spend or are trying to be careful as they upgrade to it over the Carbine 8s. Both are good though. I plan to do a more in-depth comparison video once I get my PC8 leveled a bit more.
