I think I have found the load-out that makes me love this bot.
It took the SB12 getting to R5 for it to really come alive though... the freeze rate and damage is more than usable at that rank. Paired with an MR 8, I really don't have a lot of problems with many bots.
If it's a high leveled Juggy I still have to accept a multi-run approach (No single pass kills) but otherwise, between the ability, the long sustained damage of the SB12, and the beautiful bursty booms of the MRs, most things just die.
The MR works at the SB's optimal range just fine, and the SB compliments the MR in CQB, too. So far, it's the only build that has left me both wanting to play the Guardian and made me OK with switching out a MR 8 with a 6 on my beloved MR KS.
Highly recommend this setup.

you should try it w/ carbines (8 + 8, 8 + 10), significant upgrade from the MR6's I had before. I would run MR8 on mine, but I just love Ares MR8 too much

I love the adaptability of this game. what do you find is an optimal playstyle for Carbine Ares? 5s unload time, so it seems like you have to pick your spots carefully. If you put up shield and engage but lose your shield entirely, the next time you pop out after reload, you might get killed. Whereas w/ MR8's, I can pop the shield, come out, fire, retreat and usually still have a shield. If I lose my shield, I can still usually come back out and fire another salvo and survive since I'll be in and out quickly

If I lose my shield, I can still usually come back out and fire another salvo and survive since I'll be in and out quickly I get that... and totally agree that it's a great home for MRs and I have had rough times facing folk who are good at that build... but... you just opened up a can of worms lol.
For me, that would mean I would have to take MRs off of the KS... which I absolutely will not do, unless experimenting. Switching out one of the 8s for a 6 on that Guardian build is as far as I will go. KS MR is my best performing, most fun, build. It's all-aggression and if my rockets don't kill you, it's highly likely my Melee dash, will.
I've tried the Ares, the Juggs, the Guardian, and the Panther with straight MRs, and not a single one comes close to the KS in terms of my enjoyment factor. Even if I meet a counter to that build that kills me quick in one game, for 9 more, it's Top Mech.
I will say I have to get into the zone to really get going with it... it's not an easy build... but it's rewarding AF once you get a roll going... take out one red with the right rocket pack, strip a shield with the left one, kill a LA Panther that just lost its fence with the Dash, then lining up and doing it over... it's just a blast!
The SSs below were from a game against a duo that just worked very well together... and have obviously been playing a while. Yes it was a loss, but that build made it tough for them Now, I'm nowhere near as good as players that play hours a day, so I take my fun where I can find it and am proud when it all works lol.

I like how in this game, even with the limited number of gear, we all still find different builds that are fun! For example, right now, I'm experimenting with Panther with RM12/RPG6. It's not a killer mech by any means but it's challenging to play and I can do well in CPC with it AND do my RM tasks.
I haven't ranked up my SB12 yet, but I might have to try that Guardian build one day.

I was so stoked to see it that I left a comment lol.
Video starts where he begins to talk about it, but the whole thing is a good discussion on Guardian use. Most of us should know all of what he discusses but there may be some who are reading this that don't know the builds and the pros and cons of the mech itself, so I don't want them to think it's not worth watching.
Plus, it gives Scape a full video view for his stats
Edit - Koalabear, yes, the variety possible in this game far exceeds what you think it should be from the limited number of items... I have had a lot of fun experimenting, so far, and really appreciate that what someone else may not jive with still works wonders for me, and vice versa. Makes for some good tactical matchups that you don't always expect. A loadout that is easily countered on a Panther may not be if they are in the Guardian with the same loadout, and again, vice versa.

Wow! sorry I haven't been here in while gang! Just happened to log in and saw this. Appreciate the love for the video and channel.
On the original poster and the SB/Mr8 combo - its a newish build for me to be testing but I also really enjoy it. I dont mention the SB12 build in my video namely because its about 3k acoins to purchase and since its mostly useful when he is at 20 energy (no max) its not one that I generally recommend. Most of the end game weapons people want cost acoins so it can really slow down that progress. However if you plan on getting it anyways or already have it (like I did) is a very nice build at 20 and largely identical in playstyle to the SB16/Mr8 build.
Hope you all are doing well! And what are most of peeps in game names or facebook names? Have i run into on those channels? Sorry I havent been here much - been a busy boy! lol

Thanks to a couple of challenges, Guardian with pulse cannons fell back into my active lineup. I needed 5 wins when spawning Guardian, and 3 MVP’s with pulse cannons. I caved in and boosted the PC’s to R4, and the setup was actually tearing it up pretty good. I’ll probably keep it in for tournament, and throw Lancer back in that slot for CPC, because it’s just too much fun not to.

I was actually surprised when I saw their ideal range was twice that of carbine 8s. I generally find carbine 8s are more flexible at various ranges and more accurate, but PC8s tear it up better in their ideal range of 60m.

Thanks duke! you guys all seem like solid players. Are any of you clanning yet? I'm with No Mercy as you may know. I dont know what recruiting is like right now so i can ask other officers but we largely tend to favor War Robots guys. You pick this stuff up much easier and many of our base is past War Robots guys too.

Well, you are all welcome to come to our discord: discord.gg/zvg7NmkQWe have a public arena then a clan area. Usually we like to squad with peeps and talk a bit to get to know them before they are in. But in any case you guys can come check it out if you are interested. Since clans arent official yet, we dont have any specific goals, but trying to get a good batch of skilled players.

We haven't stated it's a requirement, but since the in game chat methods are not sufficient for doing team games, clan battles and comms we decided on discord. So my gut says yea you'll want it, but I'll check with the other officers.

I’m like, I don’t want to bull「dookie」 all night, I just want to play the 「fluffernutter」ing game. And even when they used it for actual squad play, it was more like a 5-way color commentary than coordinating teamwork. Like a bunch of old ladies gossiping around the hair salon all day. It was just an annoyance, and I hated it. Then the MA channel just pushed me over the edge. Im not sure which part felt better - canceling my account, or deleting the app.

FYI I am in a similar situation as far as RL keeping me from being super active, and have joined the a couple of "clan" servers, and if nothing else, there are bound to be tips and tricks you can pick up on, or have a place to ask questions when the Forum is pretty inactive. I think I will join a clan soon... but this is all new ground so who knows what next month will bring.
BTW... I am on the NM server that Scape talked about and their public lobby has a LOT of players that aren't part of their clan... good source of other player's experience if nothing else. Who knows... in time your play time may get bigger and then you will be in a good spot to do the clan thing if you wanted.
Just a thought... I am def not saying you should do it... just that you may be able to get more out of it than you think.

Yea just like any game, there are annoying and useless channels. People try to get me to try them all the time. Some have weird games in them or weird bots. Others are just useless or dead. I really stay out of most of them. But the clan one is a regular stop daily for me. Very useful for coordinating play and talking with good players.

I only begrudgingly installed and registered because a clan I was in at the time was pushing it hard. I never installed FB chat, and in fact deleted my real FB account years ago and now have just my namesake here strictly for registering games. But anyway, back to our regularly scheduled thread topic. Dammitall, I’m starting to really like the Guardian. I just played a few CPC games with it and did really well - top mech in one of them. So now I’m really torn because I had big plans for my Lancer, but there’s no room for it and my Guardian, unless I open up a 5th slot, which I really didn’t want to do yet. Or do I?

I did it because I like having options... but I can only think of about 2 times I have ran through all my bots in anything other than a match facing a full squad while solo.

I switched back in the Guardian with the PC8s, and its been doing pretty well so far. One plus over the MR8s is if the red starts to escape after using your ability, you dont blow your load all at once, can can chase them down. Just gotta use cover. MR8s are now on the Zeph, which can get full salvos on targets.

There’s definitely something to be said for having options. And if I’m going to continue to level them both up, then what’s the harm in having them both available to play depending on what the situation warrants, other than 625 a-coins. I think my hangar strength is about to get a bit of a bump, damn you.

Well that was a mistake. I mean, I still can’t decide which mech I want to run and I like having the option of both being available. But since opening a 5th slot the games have all been sucking. Still winning, but now I’m regularly in the middle or bottom of the pack. MVP’s are few and far between, when only yesterday I was consistently getting in the top 3, if not top mech. And I’m not sure why, other than every mech is now getting killed a lot faster. Even Juggy, it’s like the first hit from anything totally melts away its shield and it can’t stand up to anything. Seems like all of a sudden every mech’s health bar is red within seconds of spawning. I don’t get it. Might have to pull one chassis out and run with four and see what happens.
