So I picked up Javelin Rack6 for like 3 bucks and slapped it on my Panther. Do you think it would be a better fit for my Ares?

So I picked up Javelin Rack6 for like 3 bucks and slapped it on my Panther. Do you think it would be a better fit for my Ares? TBH... that is entirely a preference question. I prefer a different set of weapons on my Panther... not because the Javs don't work on it, but because that set of weapons work best on the Panther, for me.
Ares + Jav is fine because it allows you to get out into the open and take a little fire in order to line up some more dangerous shots... but the same is true for the Panther with its fence/shield. I use Javs on my Para mostly, now, because I have dedicated weapons on all the rest. I like that combo because it allows me to get in and out, quickly, on those hard angles. Similar to the shield in that the goal is to not get hit while lining up shots that would be hard to do from behind cover or around a corner.
But, with that said (and I stress this), I try to get folk from cover and around corners if at all possible. I think of these as indirect fire weapons, first. If I can, I treat them like a mix of Aphids and Hydras in War Robots, both are trolly as Hell, but effective, when used from safe positions. Javs are very similar.
In short, though, from my experience, Javs work on just about anything.
EDIT: Mpost folk think that the Killshot is the best Jav platform... if you haven't tried that yet, do so. It's a fun build and the Melee dash gives you a bit of self defense along with a "finisher" option if your Javs don't kill the Red in question.
Also, try to get angles that allow for your shots to hit the sides or come in from behind... there is a damage modifier that is applied to every weapon that hits in those spots and added with the criticals that the Javs produce, it can be quite devastating. Leveling up those Javs to R4 should be high on your list of priorities, for that reason, since they get extra crit damage on rank up.

Agree with everything above. I like Panther for other things because of the large amount of energy it has. It just holds the big stuff. I will run Javs on the Ares on certain tournament maps because the extra protection is needed. The map tomorrow is a great example of where an Ares works well. You can get up on the upper structures and have protection from return Jav fire. However, I don't like the Javs on the Ares for CPC. It's too slow and can't push beacons without something that has continuous fire. The KS is the natural place for them because of it's speed and ability to reposition. The tourney maps don't need as much movement, so the Ares can find a spot and stay there. They can usually weather attacks better too without repositioning. Just a few observations from my experience dukeofadvil.

You can literally run Jav6 on any mech that can hold them and do well. My personal fave is KS because of it's speed to get into cover and use it's Melee Dash to finish off low HP mechs. I like Panther with RPG6 the best because IMO, it's the most versatile weapon and deserves to be on the most versatile mech in the game. The Ares is a good sniper/counter sniper, but personally, I got tired of sniping and don't run it anymore - but will probably put it back in when I feel like a change.

RPG6 on Panther works a treat. Certainly makes me get the Panther in where it hurts, as opposed to sitting back sniping with the Long Arms.

I use them on my Paragon and dash away. Yup... if I have either a Para task or a Jav task, this build is my first choice. Shadow Jav is my second choice... but Para is more fun for me.

I dig my Para Jav and Shadow Jav.
I alternate my Plasma 6s and Pulse Cannon 8s between my Panther and my Ares. Just depends on tasks and mood.

Personally, the Ares with the shield ability is my hold the beacon bot or the final push bot in tournament mode. The Panther with freeze ability is what works for me when capping beacons. Agree with all the comments.
