Might have to do with the Haloween event. Probably postponed tournament start until that patch drops.

Ummm, does this mean the tournament ending is going to be 3 hours later too? Like 3:45 CST...that would be very bad for my a-coin intake...or my sleep. One or the other.

Yeah, I noticed it this morning too. I had a couple jokers push me down a pay-bracket last night. Not a big deal in the novice round, but this is going to suck. The only way this ends up being fair is if they rotate the start time each week so that eventually it works out that everyone gets a favorable time. At least not in the middle of the night. sheesh.

I should just give up now. This has gotten beyond ridiculous. This is almost the worst position possible — I’ll get pushed up a bracket, but nothing to show for it. I said I was gonna wait to start tourney games today; clearly I didn’t wait long enough. I caved in and accepted an invite, that’ll learn me.  |

Just farm Expert by way of the tournament grind guide. As more players come in, scores are going to get dumber and dumber in the higher brackets.

^^^ So nothing like having a few good teammates to turn this 「dookie」-show around. Had a bunch of great games with Redfiend , lovewhip, BAM-Stormy, and a guy named squirrel who I’m trying to get to join the forum. Had several games with a full squad of 5 with pretty varying hangar strengths, but we were all taking turns at top mechs in every game - it was great. I’m on a win streak of at least 20 games (that’s as far back as the battle log goes), and I don’t know how many more before that. And they weren’t all easy enemies - a good chunk of the games looked like we were outmatched, but we pulled them off, including a couple of real nail-biters. Anyway, I made it up to 2nd now in my bracket, with no hope/energy/desire to get the next 6k I’d need to overtake first. I’m within reach of the 3rd place guy, but comfortably above 4th enough that I’m not gonna sweat it any more tonight. Considering where I was earlier, I’m happy with that. I fully expect tomorrow is gonna get ugly in the next bracket. |

Yeah, normally I do this, and will probably resume it next week. Though I gotta say, I had much worse games earlier in the week in the lower brackets than I had tonight squadding with you guys. This week I just felt like seeing if I can make it to the grand master bracket, how bad the games get, and how far I can get there if I do. |

Last night/morning I managed to make it to 4th place I think, maybe 5th. Then the game said it was doing Server Maintenance, 2 hours before the end of the tourney! I was like oh well I will get a good bunch of resources. Top players were way ahead. Facebook posters were Not happy. Bad timing for the SM. Happy halloween.  |

Well, as miserable as this week’s tournament started, I somehow managed to finish first in grand master bracket. I don’t know why or how, but I got mostly decent matchups all day Saturday, whether squadding or solo. No real whitewashes either way, although we did have one where we mech’d out the reds, and I usually got top mech or in the top 3 most games. The stars and planets must have aligned. I’ll give it a late start tomorrow; if I can pull it off again, it should give me enough a-coins for them carbines, one set of which on a Guardian by the way easily chewed up two of my mechs in one game, including my walking cement truck Juggy. So I want ‘em.

As someone currently trolling the crap out of Javelin Killshots with RM12+Jav6, I'll tell you: They're not aiming for you half of the time. They're aiming at the bot near you that is occupying the area they think you'll be in when the Mortar touches down. I'm rarely aiming at the player I want to hit. I target the mech that's standing on the section of the map I want to carpet bomb because I see other mechs moving near/towards it. Mortars travel at a consistent speed, meaning they'll touch down faster against targets in the 45-75 Range than they'll reach 100M+ targets. If I can figure out everyone's movement and drop a perfectly timed steamer, just with the minimap and distance information, the AI, which can easily read your button inputs and track targets that aren't on Radar/Hud, can easily nail you if your strafe pattern is smaller than the diameter of the fallout. |
