Ok, don't know how many people have the Cheetah now or have encountered them, but hoping I can get some discussion going. I've only seen that one video that Redfiend posted with that guy trying to toss bombs off a platform. That wasn't great tactics in my mind, and I think he only got those kills from weakened AI opponents. Honestly, if I were on the other team and I saw a red on top of that platform, I'd snipe him or send a flight of Javs at him. So, the Cheetah starts off with 10 energy. Not bad but not great either as it means I'll have to start with a 4/6 weapon build. I like symetry! Still, Jav 4/6 or RPG 4/6 shouldn't be that bad, and a Cheetah isn't meant to be brawling anyway. It should be running around, skulking in corners and laying bombs in prime places, like around your own Control Points so that when reds come to try to capture it, they get blown up. One rank up should give it 12 energy and at that point, I can have a symmetrical build. But, for a mech named Cheetah, it doesn't seem very fast. 6kph is same speed as the M.D. I would have preferred 8kph at least with a name like that. The bombs also don't seem to do a lot of damage (compared to KS's melee dash), but I think you get 3 of them. Anyone know how fast they recharge? Or is it just one bomb with a cool down? I'm up to 2k A-coins. So I'm about halfway there to getting the Cheetah. CB8 is at over 8k A-coins so it would take way too long in my mind to save up for those. Plus, getting CB8 would just mean running a tank, and I don't really need one right now. Most tournament matches can be done with Jav KS, PC Panther and MR Guardian and LA Ares; and when I play CPC, I throw in Jav Shadow so I have a second beacon capper. The Cheetah would replace the Shadow so that I have more fire power at the cost of the stealth ability which doesn't really help that much anyway.

First, why do you think CB8 means it has to be a tank? I think Panther or KS will be an option... but I will prolly change things up a lot - like always lol.
Frankly, I am holding off on the Cheetah. Like you, I don't feel a "HAVE TO HAVE IT" compulsion.
I want Carbine. Either 8 or higher... at this point, IDC... too far off to decide.
But for now, still saving A coins. I think I can wait a bit before I spend then on anything else... and if I REALLY want to upgrade something I can supplement a few real dollars to make up for it.

Well, CBs are sustained damage type of weapons. And, from what I've seen of other people running them, they take a while to empty the clip. I already have PC8 on my Panther, so the only other mechs good for CB8 in my mind is either Ares or Jug (but have to rank up the Jug first which will cost A-coins). I suppose I can run the CB8 on the Ares (which IS a tank), but I'm also having fun with it as a sniper.
The KS is too fragile to run a sustained damage weapon on. Plus, I'd have to rank up my KS to run the CBs, which would cost more A-coins again.

you can place three mines at a time, and relocate them after the reload time. there are videos of players using just mines, although it could be in early rounds of tournament against "noob" ai XD

So, they don't just stay where you dropped them? Or they stay, but after a while they disappear on their own? I was envisioning that the mines stayed there until someone stepped on them...so theoretically, you could litter the map with mines...but I guess that's not the case?

I disagree with KS not being able to handle running sustained damage weapons. Have you not experienced how deadly PC8 KS is?
I see Cheetah sometimes and the mines can be deadly. It definitely has its place, and like other stuff will perform much better as it upgrades and ranks up more. As resources are challenging to accrue, I would watch as much gameplay as I could and really investigate its use before dropping the coins to get it. I really enjoy the thought of trolling people like that so I will definitely be getting it. I do agree it should be faster though.

I definitely want a Cheetah. Any dedicated flanking bot, I'm totally down for. Supposed to be a good pairing with Javs.

I've been killed by PC8 KS often, but usually it's because they've flanked me or caught me unawares. Haven't lost many 1v1 enounters with them. Besides, my KS is still only at 12en, so I'm keeping it with Jav6 while my Panther rocks the PC8. I really like the combo of Stasis Field and PC8. It really chews through mechs.

I got the Cheetah and really having a blast with it! me getting the hang of planting mines: me trolling and blowing up the same player several times and eliciting a mad face response twice in a row from them:

Koalabearthat is difficult even if you purchase one of those post-acquisition upgrade offers, because you have to have the blueprints, a ton of silver, not to mention even more a-coin to rank it up one. I’m closing in on next rank, but even with a slightly lower en capacity you can still do just fine. Anyways, I will post some input here soon about several Cheetah play styles and weapon suggestions.

Since it is an "exotic" mech, it will take 54 blueprints and 265,000 credits to take it to Rank 4 Level 7. Not sure on the A-Coin cost to get to Rank 5, but since the Cheetah is in the Light class of Mechs, its A-Coin Rank up cost is highest. Other Light Mechs cost 2,500 A-Coins just to get to Rank 4 so it will not be cheap! Still could be fun to run as many do not have experience countering them. I would say that Plarium (or what ever the maker's name is of MA) seems to be encouraging players to get the Cheetah as the top loot rush prize the past two times has been a Cheetah skin.

The counter to Cheetah are to
- Keep a bit of distance from them so they can’t chuck a mine right near you
- Pay attention to terrain, not just enemies. This doesn’t just mean to notice mines in obvious spots, but inconspicuous spots as well
- Avoid getting close to mines
- Cheetah is really soft, so if it’s caught in the open it does quick

One thing about Cheetah...you can see the mines on the ground...but you can't shoot them! You should be able to shoot them cause otherwise, the only way to say capture the CP where they're sitting on is to suck up the damage.

If you could shoot mines, it would make Cheetah much less effective. Also, you can’t always see the mines in time before proximity alert goes off, which is why I’m beginning to consider ambush drop points more carefully. As for CPC guarded by a mine, if you rush through the outer perimeter of proximity detector with a curving motion, you can set it off without taking damage, and with Killshot you can trigger them and melee dash away before detonation occurs. If you think carefully about these counter tactics, it also shows some of the tactics the Cheetah pilot needs to think about to get hits with mines.

AI's always drop all 3 mines in a straight line, so my fav thing to do is to just line up my KS parallel to them and dash through all 3, so fun

Cheetah thrives on the close quarters maps of tournament mode. I have been using my Shotgun4 and it has been brutal

I think my thinking is based on what weapons I have available and what weapons I'm likely to get in the near future. I like fast mechs, hence I'm interesting the either the Cheetah or the MD. But, I would only want them if I have the resources to bump them up to EN12 right away.
For example, the weapons I seem to favour right now are: SB12/TL6 MR8 PC8 Jav6 RPG6
Out of my current line up, the mech I would drop first is the Jugg, not because it's not useful, but because I'm not that into tank-style play. So, I could move my Jav6 off my Shadow and onto the Cheetah, because the Cheetah needs to engage from cover even more than the Shadow does. The PC8 can go over to my Killshot, and the RPG6 can go to my Shadow. I really regret getting the MR6 by the way, so for anyone reading this, stay away from the MR6!
I think the Cheetah would be awesome as a Jav6 chucker. While the Shadow is the ultimate sucker puncher with the Jav6, the Cheetah would be more like: "haha, just nailed you with Javs, come get me" and then let them walk into a line of mines.

KoalabearI wouldn’t go with things that require prolonged exposure to do damage, such a SB or PC. Things that unload quickly burst from a distance or behind cover or that allow you to hit quick and retreat ....Javs, Mrs, Rpgs, Shotguns all work well.

I think at this point, I'm better off trying to rank up my Jugg to R5 so that I can slap the SB12/TL6 combo on it. Move my RPG6 back to my Panther, and then run my KS with PC8. I just don't have the patience to save up the A-coins for the Cheetah.
