So thought I read somewhere that Bot and Weapon Rank will affect ai match making. I currently am working on my Rank 3 bots and weapons, but held off on upgrading anything to Rank 4 just in case. I also haven't picked up any Missile Racks to stay at Rank 3 too. Any insight on this?

I haven’t seen anything definitive, but somebody on FB noted that as soon as they had a weapon set upgraded to R4, they suddenly started seeing ridiculously higher competition ... and teammates. Combined, it made wins very rare, and making forward progress very slow. He had no proof either, just an observation.

No, gear has no effect on MM. Using higher power gear like Missile Racks doesn't make competition harder because you're using them. It makes the competition tougher because your ability to wipe weaker enemies has the AI throw beefier enemies at you. The AI takes quite awhile to actually settle on what you should be fighting. The instances it throws the house at you, it's measuring you up. When that handful of matches is over, the AI as a whole acts considerably different. After being in D1 for so long, now I get AI that is almost exclusively 1400-1600, with the only outliers being when actual players get mismatched. They're 4 bot hangars that add up to that 14-1600, so the bots I'm fighting are actually a bit stronger individually. They're a lot smarter than what most of the people I've squadded with are fighting, and are pretty brutal in how they play as a team. Your win rate, division, and general performance affects the MM, not any individual item. Considering the A-coin costs from R3 to R4, I'm sticking with my original plan of getting everything I'm taking to R4 up to 3.7 before starting rank ups. People like Scape and KSO just jumped on what they considered the best and only upgraded those things, so I feel like there's some missing objectivity in how items are actually ranked in their books. KSO's Juggernaut is still rank 1 ffs lol Edit: mechtout title bro. |
