Faps, lol. If it has wing "stiffeners" it's eligible to post here. I saw a P-38 live once. What a sound. The F8F Bearcat was also stunning to hear. I present for your fapping pleasure: ⓣⓡⓘⓒⓚⓨ48

For everyone's fapping er clapping pleasure, I give you what is arguably the most beautiful fighter of WWII, the Spitfire! The British planes of WW2 were all great designs...
The amazing Hurricane:
The Typhoon:
The Tempest:
The Mosqutio:
So much goodness and just great quality designs for their roles.
German planes were quality, but other than their jets, their aesthetics just don't do it for me like the Brit and Yank planes. Except for the Stuka... God I love/hate the Stuka.

U2's always looked so fragile to me. I used to work with a former SR71 chief and he had a lot interesting stuff to tell about the history, etc. He would never tell me how high or fast it really went though. Every time I'd ask a question I knew he couldn't answer he'd just look over his glasses at me.... I'm sure there's a lot of cool stuff about the U2's as well. Setting one of those down must be a bear!

I met Pappy Boyington in 1980. He inspired me with the incredible words, "I'm not signing your hat, kid." Makes sense. Everything I've read about him is that he was a jerk much of his life only being romanticized in the tv show about his exploits. Robert Conrad he is not.

They had a Spit IX to drool on. Speak of the teufel, "German Aircraft of the First World War" Putnam Publishers, 1962, just came in the mail yesterday Exhaustive. Putnam never fails to impress.

The poop I've seen as a kid and I didn't even live near an airport: CF-101 - super rare at the time musta been one of the last airworthy examples F-106, at night, doing orbits around our neighborhood. Whatchoo doin' boy! B-17, "Ahh.. Dad, come out and look at this." 4 P&W radials. I was too young to fap puplicly. I'm older now so it's ok. ⓣⓡⓘⓒⓚⓨ48Koalabear

I live in Maryland in an area where we regularly get overflights to/from Andrews and PAX River NAS. We get all kinds of stuff flying over. V-22 and F-16 yesterday. AF-1 frequently. A number of transports of varying types. Even had the Red Arrows when they were doing a demo around Washington DC.

Most fun I had, outside of air shows, was while stationed at LeJeune. New River MCAS and Cherry Point MCAS both sent stuff back and forth and had a few exercises I got front row seats to... once I was working on equipment on one of the Base beaches and got to watch a full on landing exercise with pre-landing Hornet, Harrier, and Cobra runs, just as the AMTRACKS were hitting the shore. Was a BLAST. The fast movers followed the shoreline to their target and flew right over us at what couldn't have been more than 3K ft. Good times.

I would love to go for a ride in a modern fighter. I have seen the cockpit of an F-15 though. The best ride I ever took was on an aerobatics run in a Pitts S2. Didn't lose my lunch either! I came close to losing my lunch in a Cessna L-19 flying about 50 feet off the deck for an hour in the California desert in 110 degree temperatures. It was brutally hot inside the that aircraft.

Same here. Also my first ride in an aircraft, a RF-4C. It was the ANG 186th TAC RECON group out of Key field in Meridian, MS. Just F'n bad 「bum-bum」. I was in the CAP(civil air patrol) and we were headed down to Keesler AFB for our 2 week encampment. But the ANG guys were also doing their 2 week yearly stint down there at the same time. My dad was also in the guard there, pulled some strings and got me the ride down to Biloxi. All of the others in the CAP there were driving down there. It was a 3hr ride by car. I made itdown there in 45mins. LOL
