That way, when the almost inevitable happens with a loss. The disappointment can be brushed aside for a new sports season. My birds lost today. ? |

Who's excited for football season? ?? I am. I am not.
My fandom had been decreasing for years. I'm a born and bred Washington Redskins fan. Between the owner being abysmal for over 20 years and the various changes to the rules making it an increasingly difficult product to watch, my interest in the NFL had been declining notably for the last 6 years or so.
I had found myself getting more interested in the prospects with the hiring of Ron Rivera as being similar to Marty Schottenheimer v2.0. I thought that even without a Super Bowl trophy coming, the organization had a good shot at becoming somewhat respectable with a massive infusion of professionalism and accountability.
Between the name change (my research diverges wildly with what the screaming masses demand), my wholehearted disagreement with the announced goals of the BLM organization irrespective of racial equality, and the deemphasis of patriotism, I'm done with the NFL.
It's a real shame the XFL folded.
