Since we have a Panther thread... figured why not?
Just had my best game on a Tourney with no one under 700...
This map (Two Arches) is great for MR6... the reds get all bunched up and it's like a buffet... "I want a piece of that one, maybe a chunk of that one..." etc.

Holy crap, is that a shotty kill shot (killshotty maybe?) Obviously it didn't do as well as you did (1/10th the kills, lol), but still. Impressive. And can I just say how kind it is of you to share your trophies with those other guys? I mean, I know they don't all fit on your card and are spilling over, but that's very generous of you! lol

Ok, serious question time now for the killshot. Does it's ability have an area affect? I think I'm hitting multiple people when I dive into a closely packed group. Am I wrong?

Ok, serious question time now for the killshot. Does it's ability have an area affect? I think I'm hitting multiple people when I dive into a closely packed group. Am I wrong? I think so... You don't have to hit folk dead on and several times when I was first driving it I had thought I was going to miss after initiating the ability, only to end up getting the kill anyway, running into the wall next to them.
So, yeah, pretty sure it has a splash radius.

It's got splash that does less damage the further they are from the impact point. The hitbox is a little wider than Killshot's weapons. Makes it a bit annoying when that ghost hitbox clips a corner, but the charge would be a bit harder to hit without it.

I’m a couple of upgrades away from the next rank and energy level 12, but in trying to do a little pre-planning ... javelins or missile rack on Killshot? I’m currently running the former, the latter is unlocked but not yet acquired. Both have a quick unload, one has longer range, one can shoot around corners. After a few games this morning with MR8’s on the Guardian, I’m now wishing I had jumped on the offer for MR6’s. In case that offer comes up again, I’m wondering if they’re a viable option in Killshot.

His stuff is probably leveled to the max (he also had 2 Guardians and 2 Panthers in his active hangar!), so I’m guessing he had MR8’s, and they were just brutal. Sometimes he’d finish off his target with the dash, sometimes he’d dash them first then finish them with one MR salvo. But he almost always fired just one at a time. Good tactics to watch there that should be workable even for us lowly folk. Anyway, I’m in the same boat as you as far as time goes — gonna be awhile before Killshot gets ranked up enough, and then longer before I can get MR6’s for it. But that’s the plan (for now), focus resources on the Killshot. I’m sure I’ll change my mind at least 80 times between now and then.

Thanks, but one of those games I just got a couple of lucky melee opportunities and a bunch of half dead ducks in javelin range. You do ok yourself.

Well, I drained all my credits and a-coins again (at least I didn’t buy any this time!), and FINALLY ranked my Killshot up to 3*. Unfortunately that meant taking the jav 6’s off the Panther, which means focusing next on getting him up to 3* so I can load him up with something with some teeth. Javelin 4’s I think will go on MD now.

KS is one that I am going to upgrade as far as I can.
And ᥣᵃᵛᵃʲᵃᵛᵃ , I did that, took it to R4 and ran MR6s until I freed up my 8s... it did plenty well enough with just the 6s. The 8s are a dream and I prefer the KS for them over every bot, now. PC8s on the Ares is just fun and effective in the role of stopgap. I don't think I am going to change that setup until my Ares goes up a rank or two to put a good SB + TL combo on it, or I get Carbines... whichever comes first.

ⓣⓡⓘⓒⓚⓨ48I am mainly using MR8s on KS in current tourney map; really dig this set up, but the great thing about ranking up is it opens up the options for weapons use, which is a nice element of flexibility in the game to change it up a bit when you may be getting bored of a certain load out. I love PC8 on Ares, but SB/TL, LAs, MRs, and Javs are all fun to play on it for different roles. Was getting a little bored with Jav KS, so it’s nice to put it more into brawl mode. Carbs will def be deadly on Ares, but they’ll be good on KS too. Lots of options!!

The best one is Acropolis (I think) where everyone is in that small square but there are a few others where the reds often congregate. Since the killshot ability has splash damage too, it can really wreak havoc if the reds are not too highly ranked. EDIT: Realizing that this thread was kind of a necropost so you are most likely well aware of all of this now!

If you do get your KS to rank 4 and MR8, try as an alternate using a MR8+TL6 combo. You first light up the red with the Thermal Lance, then hit them with the missiles. Even better if you can get a side or rear shot. Since this effectively doubles the damage of the Missile Rack, you can then place the other on another bot with a Thermal Lance to double the pleasure. I often run it on a Zephyr since I can EMP the enemy, run to their back side and unload.

Does anyone else have iffy hit rates with the Killshot ability when facing enemy Killshots? I can only seem to him them sometimes after they first use their ability. If I go at them first, they counter with their ability doing damage to me and no damage to them. I've even seen where I squarely hit them and it makes the sound of a hit but yet the enemy has full health. 「whiskey tango foxtrot」! Then there are those time when trying to hit them with ability only to have the KS somehow go around the enemy even though my path should have hit them. I'm guessing lag is the culprit here but I generally just avoid using the ability on other KS. Anyone else have these issues?

I think it has to do with the fact that AI don't experience any lag. As soon as they register a decision, it instantly occurs on the server, which means we're at a distinct disadvantage because that data has to transfer across all the wifi and processing of our device and by that time, we're dead. I'm not exactly sure why the misses occur. I think it may be because they aren't "exactly" where they're supposed to be when you hit the "go" button. My theory is that they've already been moved somewhere else by their dash and we don't even know it until it's too late. This is another reason why I can't wait to get rid of AI. They are manageable most times, but they have so many freaking advantages, it's not even close to fair most games. The only advantage I (we) have is that I'm (we're) not predictable like they are.

I’ve been holding off on grabbing a Killshot in my smurf account because, well, I set out to stick with as few mechs and weapons as possible, and so far I’ve gotten by with just 3 mechs, but I did break down and get some jav 6’s for Paragon, to go with RPG’s and autocannons. But Killshot’s have been wrecking me in tournament games, and they’re so cheap to buy with credits, it’s very hard not hitting that purchase button. I’m not even sure what point I’m trying to make by depriving myself of some of this clearly usable gear.

I haven't noticed it, personally, but I think I have seen it referenced on the bug portion of the Discord. I think it is a known issue...
