Hi all, as title says I am a newbie ( played long ago when it was called walking war robots from memory)
i am am looking for advice on what to run for mechs and loadouts.
just hit lvl20 and bought a trubuchet for my golem ( rest of loadout is original), I also have a vityaz and destrier.
i was looking at buying a Natasha running 2*trebuchet & 2* gekko but now I am not so sure.
can anyone suggest what mechs I should be aiming to buy as well as what loadouts to run on them for a non coining player?
i always tend to play long range on games so if there is a viable way to do that then great, the vityaz is great fun though a bit weak still as the mech is only around lvl4 and the weapons are 8 for the nashhorn and 6 for the spirals. Still getting used to the trebuchet on my golem but I seem to always now be up against much higher level/better geared mechs that leads to me falling like a sack of you know what very quickly.
thanks in advance for any and all suggestions/help

How much Silver/Gold/WSP do you currently have? and how many bot slots? For your level I may say that around 3 to 4 slots, so you should aim to build this: This is a pretty neat lower level hangar and you should focus on getting 2 Orkans before the 5th slot, and buy Tarans and Magnuns with your WSP until you have 4 of each. Griffin is your midranger in this build.

Since you already is the treb, you could pair it with molots on a Leo for now (or your golem for now). Focus your early wsp on magnums and tarans. Gold should go to slots and/or orkans first. Honestly, a mix of leos, griffins and boas (or perhaps a natty) will be solid until you have spare wsp or gold for premium bots. Replace the destrier and vityaz ASAP.

Silver I have next to none atm thanks to workshop, gold I believe I have roughly 1700, wsp are low also as I bought a trebuchet. I have 3 mech slots.
Which mechs are those and what are the loadouts? Also why those mechs/loadouts along with best use.
Yes I know they may be dumb questions but I did state that I am a newbie.
Is my natasha with trebuchet and gekko plan pointless? I'm not one for running to the slaughterhouse center beacon like the rest of my squad, I rather make my way around the edge to hit them hard from behind or hit them hard from a distance before they get themselves into close weapon range

Levelling as in weapons or the mechs? Yeah I was going to drop the destrier as soon as I bought the Natasha. I found the molot to be so weak it is pointless and was going to replace it asap
Do I need to follow the same cookie cutter loadout/hanger as everyone else in order to have a chance?
i was going to try make the Natasha the main focus and level it and the loadout till it was solid then concentrate on the next mech or should I try to keep them all around the same level?
Yes yes I know so many dumb questions but I would rather ask and find out than never ask and be dumb

Play what you like... just play to win. You seem to like sniping. Great. Check out which bots and weapons are good for sniping, and go for it. warrobots.wikia.com/wiki/War_Robots_Wiki(edit: welcome to the forums!) :-)

Well, I have a such a Natasha you want to run. It can do a great job, but this depends on the situation. This bot is not very versatile, it´s only for one purpose: camp and sniper. I do not always use this bot. In Yamantau and Springfield it is great. In Canyon and Shenzen it can be used. In Dead City and Power Plant it is almost useless. The gekkos generate a lot of attention. This is bad if there are enemy snipers around. This can be useful, for example to draw the attention of a comrade to an approaching enemy he hasn´t seen yet.
If you prefer long range fighting to close range combat, I would recommend Zeus, Tridents and Tulumbas rather than Orkans and Tarans.

The usual advice is to have 1 mid- or long-range bot in your lineup and have the rest be close-range (called knife fighters?) because the ranged weapons do less damage. That said, use what you like and adjust if you aren't winning.
Best weapons... Long-range: Trebuchets, Nashorns
Mid-range: Trident, Zeus, Pin, Tulumbas
Knife fighting: Thunder, Taran/magnum, Orkan/Piñata.
Until around bot level 8 or 9, medium bots are quite good. After that, you'll want Heavies.
A good knife fighter for no gold is Vityaz with thunder and 2x pinata.
A good mid-range for no gold is Patton w/4x Pin.
Stay alert and keep your laser handy

In addition to the sound advice received above here some inexpensive ways to set up a Leo, if you like the Vit - the Leo is a beast and can be kitted out for close, mid & long range combat.

1) You can't deal top damage in a support bot (and you want that damage gold) That´s totally rubbish. I prefer mid-range-fighting as well and I collect a lot of gold being top scorer, using Trebuchet, Trident, Zeus and Tulumbas.

New player needs to learn how to get beacons and be a good knife fighter before he can become truly effective as a supporter.
