One thing to note, when they have shields up, fire salvos individually. If the shield is low and you fire both at the same time, you only take the shield down, the extra damage doesn’t carry over to the physical. If you fire individually, the first takes out the shield, the second a chunk of health. Also works on long arm.

I also recommend not cycling quickly. Leave a few moments between launching. This helps reduce downtime between reloads, which helps if enemies close on you before you can evade.
Also, because evasion is crucial for longevity and to give some time for reload, I find it helpful to continue backing away to keep some distance for a more successful assault against Juggs

Figure out how to lock on a target and shoot around corners, and you’ll have reds talking to themselves. My new poison when I’m on an open map is running them on both my Killshot and Panther. If you’re of a mind to drop a few $$$ here and there, these are definitely worth it.

I like the javs. They're not long range, though. Their max range is 75m, and min range seems to be about 20-25m. They take 10 seconds to reload.
The only problem with javs is cover. With the way most maps are set up, there are a lot of roofs, high walls, etc..., causing misses frequently.
For example, today's tournament has a lot of cover, so I shelved the javs today. As far as bot loadout, I really like them on killshot because of it's speed. You can quickly get in to position and retreat, if needed. Also, the attack ability is great, if the javs didn't finish off the red.

Always try to hide under roofs and such, to block Mortars and Javelins.
Unfortunately, War Robots went the way of promoting various invincibilities. Instead of cover, you just press one magic button or another.
3-4 years ago, you had to hug walls, cornershoot and walk backwards to evade rockets. All these skills come in handy in Mech Arena.

Also, the attack ability is great, if the javs didn't finish off the red. This is true, but once you get used to the firing arc, you can position yourself well most times to get around cover. You can even sometimes hit enemies under cover if you can angle the arc to just go under the cover and hit them. Tricky for sure, but worth mastering since this is such a great weapon. Also, remember to use the 'lock target' button frequently with this weapon. Its the tiny button next to your hp bar on the bottom that looks like a mech with a square around it. This will allow you to keep on your ideal target while turning your mech's head to get the best angle around corners and such. It also ensures it wont cycle your target to the wrong person just as you shoot. Happened to me a bunch before I started using this thing regularly. In some cases though (like the current tourney map) javs are best to shelf so you have the right idea. They dont work for all maps.

Is there a manual lock button that can be cycled like there is in War Robots?

There is a lock button, but it toggles on/off instead of cycling through targets. So if you’re locked on a target and want to lock on another, you have to pop the button once to turn off lock (or I think it’s called ‘tracking’ in this game), then pop it again on the new target you want to lock. See the button just right of center at the bottom.

Depends which targeting potion you use, if it’s vertical, then you don’t get the option to lock on (or it moved and I can’t find I) so I use the original targeting for that reason.
