乃ㄥ卂乙 posted his DIY project in another thread and I followed suit. I figured, why not start a thread and see what other members are doing with their time? Here's mine: It's my take on a double-bladed custom lightsaber with a twist. The hilt is a futuristic tonfa (don't ignite any blades while twirling it or you will give yourself the Darth Maul treatment!), and one of my blades is done. I'm currently working on the second blade, and am trying to figure out what to do for a pommel. The lightsaber is made from common things bought at Home Depot and Canadian tire. I'll post more pics as I get closer to finishing it.

Great idea Koala! Today it just hit me in my forebrains! The cheapest and simplest way to build a pizza oven! Here is a crude sketch So, idea is to build the furnace using 625x400x200 Ytong blocks! Those blocks are used to build fireproof walls and can withstand 1000 degrees celusius temperatures. And they're totally cheap and easy to work with, you can cut them with a saw! Product description says there's no dangerous fumes while it's heated, and they cost like 6$ a piece, meaning, I can build a furnace in a day or two for 100$!!! Beat my genius I dare you!!! Further more, an update on my general garden kitchen plan, I have decided to build a shade, furnace, a grill and workstation with a sink under one roof, this is my idea I plan to start digging for 17.5m Square foundation this weekend, wish me luck and nice weather. I think I'm going to need my own thread lol

Garden weeding. Does that count? Do I need to draft-up some plans or can I just wing it?

Garden weeding. Does that count? Do I need to draft-up some plans or can I just wing it? I used a garden torch on the weeds that grow inbetween my stones on my patio and also when i was building a new garden in the backyard. The garden torch is amazing...it's like an ember for weeks. You should see if it fits your needs!

Thanks for the likes and support on my Rockers, I’m on a voluntary lay- off for last 3 months and playing lots of War Robots and hobby time in my small shed. My lay off has helped a young, junior employee continue to work and have medical coverage while I’m fortunate to be able to be off with 1 year till retirement. Time to play to get my Clan tasks done, enjoy the game guys while at times it’s frustrating.

A few years ago my wife and I sent the kids away for a week with my inlaws. While they were gone we built them a play set. All my design with my wife providing creative input.
Unfortunately, it's still dark here and I don't have any pictures of the completed version which has more of the railings + spindles added, diagonal stiffeners for the legs, as well as a climbing mesh added to the foreground segment on the right. I was going to suspend a tire horizontally underneath the platform, but the kids don't use it enough to justify the effort.
I've been chipping away at a partially-subterranean greenhouse project on my property. We were going to go simple until the wife said she was tired of having out small citrus plants in our bathroom and wanted them in the greenhouse year-round. Needing year-round conditioning and the wife not permitting any of the usual means of heating, I had to get creative. The plan is to bury tubes under the ground to do a forced-air geothermal conditioning system inside the confines of my greenhouse with the air forced by a high efficiency fan (similar to a Radon fan) running off a solar panel.
At the current time I have excavated a hole 12' by 17' by about 4'6" (still need to do more leveling). The dimensions are so I won't be required to pull a permit with the county (>150 sq ft requires one). I will be pouring a footer at the base then burying corrugated perforated tubes around the footers to function as a foundation drain. Those tubes will go to a manifold which will exhaust into the ravine running through the middle length of my property. I will build up a cinder block foundation up to 2-3 courses above grade then build a "typical" green-house style structure above it. I'm particularly focused on insulating the northern and eastern walls both inside with foam panels as well as externally by piling up much of the excavated dirt against the exterior walls.
For now, the bulk of the pit is excavated and all but a ~3'' long segment of the drainage trench has been dug. Unfortunately, work has been insanely busy for me since March and we've received a tremendous amount of rain since June. I'd hoped to have at least the foundation laid by now and the greenhouse structure constructed in time for this winter, but I'm starting to have my doubts.
For now, it's just a hole to collect hurricane water.
PS I'm dumb. That hole was dug with shovels and sweat.

Wait, there is a different way to do it?

If I were smart, I would have just rented a backhoe and knocked it out in ~a day. I was trying to save myself the $350, though.

Ok, my daughter put the first coat of paint on my secondary blade. I can now finally see what the assembled lightsaber will look like with both blades in. So, that's the twist...the secondary blade is shorter and comes out of the smaller emitter.

It's finally finished! It's nowhere as cool as 乃ㄥ卂乙's, but heck, he's got muscles! The longer blade is a dowel, and the shorter blade came from an actual lightsaber toy. Almost everything else came from Home Depot or Canadian Tire. The pommel - which I had hoped to find some sort of dragon sculpture - ended up coming from the cap of a fancy bottle of wine.
