For a long time, I remember being bright-eyed and bushy tailed about the future of War Robots. I remember the thrill of being selected for my entry as part of a War Robots writing contest in which the reward was the triple pack of the Wild West robots. I remember back when I posted a thread in this very forum about running up a ramp in Yamanatau with a Rhino and being surrounded by 5 Stalkers at the same time. And I remember the day when the JSDF bots came to Live and I instantly bought them both for 27500 Research points (I forget what they're called). Listen, I used to like the gameplay as much as you guys do, and I'm still indeed nestled in a blanket of nostalgia. At this point, however, I'm stepping off the bus. Probably should've paid attention when Lloyd LeMar stepped off and I could've saved myself around $2000, too. Let this be the last dying squeak of a man who desperately wanted to play doctor. Final hangar statistics: I had so many plans. I wanted to be the Center Beacon of War Robots guides. I planned to have an updated list of robots, strategies, advanced techniques, and even commission artwork here and there. As soon as the game kept slapping me in the face, I couldn't be creative. I began to hate it and view it as a chore rather than something I wanted to do, and only recently had I fully transformed my hangar to be entirely healing based, until Pixonic slapped me yet again with the new Legendary Pilot system, despite not having a dedicated Legendary Pilot for most of the old guard of robots. At this point, with Cannibal Reactors and Drones on the horizon, they're going to permanently cement the thick line between dolphins and whales by simply draining all but the paying crowd of their Power Cells. At this point, I need to focus much more on my life here. And War Robots isn't making my day more enjoyable, it's making it much more stressful as I try to figure out what chunk of my wallet Pix is after this time. I used to have a hangar mascot, that I had commissioned WAY back (approx. 4 years ago) and posted on this forum. She was, until update 5.0, my full time pilot. Now, she's been relegated to quartermaster/clerical duty, I suppose. Not like being a "commander" is as nearly as interesting as Pix makes it out to be. And don't even get me started on what they did to the game's lore. eventually evolved into . I just feel that she'd be sad these days.

Sorry to see you go! If it ain't fun anymore, that's when you gotta step back. To be honest, I haven't played much in the last couple of weeks and haven't really missed it too much. I played one game this morning and was soundly trounced. It wasn't fun at all. Lately, I've been playing Mech Arena a lot. It's still in Beta and is a ton of fun. Take a look and see if it's for you!

Hehe, I can't remember when I last played War Robots. Maybe last Saturday, for one hour or so. It's still fun at times, trolling players with my somewhat oldschool but high leveled equipment and the game play in Champs clearly has changed: From outsmarting other players to sheer firepower and that's boring as 「fluffernutter」. Playing for some five, six minutes, dominating a match only to see the reds drop one or two maxed Mings and the tides turn around 180 degrees and you can't do 「dookie」 about it. Drones won't make things better, as they're the next cash grab. So yeah. I'll continue playing, but one hour or so per week is enough for me.
Anyway Doc, your decision is understandable. A lot of us long term players are disappointed with War Robots and Pixonic. But it is what it is and after almost five years, I doubt that Pixo will change course and start listening to their audience.
All the best, Doc!

Im still holding onto hope that pix will switch to a cosmetic based monetization system.
A thin thread of hope, but still...

You too? Welcome to skid row, bro. And I wish you hadn't mentioned the Lore... one more reason to not care even about the remastered edition that almost keeps me on the verge of not quitting for good... but yeah, you hit a lot of the points I felt led me to uninstalling and not even caring about the direction it goes anymore. Drones, Titans, and Pilots, OH MY! Wish they would have put all of the crazy into the dino game and left War Robots alone... but here we are. Also, another vote for Mech Arena. It's NOT the same, and is less of a game than War Robots used to be, but still pretty good and I am digging the action and quick games, for now. Good luck in whatever you do from here, and Godspeed! ???48

Just finished all 3 The Last of Us games TLOU 2, TLOU 1, and the TLOU Left behind DLC game. Might play 2 again. As you can tell War Robots is getting neglected

Sad to see you go ... but it's not surprising.
I, like others, hold out hope for the one in a million good game. Where 12 similar players come together, with some evenly matched equipment ... and have a little fun. It's not that anymore, and just getting worse.
I tried to drop in a few games just a minute ago, and it was a nightmare of golden blurs and maxed titans. I can't even enjoy leveling and playing my Hades, poor guy just gets molly whopped by the endless waves of Ravana's.
But ...
This is your thread, good luck man and I highly respect your decision. I desperately, deep down, want to do the same ......

The problem was you didn't jump on the ravana storm train. If you spent your money on six ravana storms you would be in legend league by now. Too bad that choice will be going away soon. Next time don't forget that the meta wins games.

Next time don't forget that the meta wins games. I have 3 Ravanas, one standard and two Ivory. Also have 3 Arnavs to go along with them. I just refuse to use them.

It doesn't get more fun if you have more new stuff, it just gets more expensive.

if i spent $2000 on a game and it didn't run like buttered silk, I'd have demanded a refund long ago.
oh yeah, game balance sucks and all, but jesus christmas, 2 grand... on a game that stutters more than a lying politician...
edit: those War Robots ads that are 3rd person RTS style games may have more truth to them than they'd like to admit... it's a freaking turn based game!

Ah, Lloyd LaMer ....
When I started playing he was still doing videos. I watched them all obsessively trying to soak up his well explained strategies.
He left because he felt War Robots was shifting toward a no skill style of gameplay.

The volume of beacon avoidance in higher leagues now vs then is maddening.

The frog has jumped out of the water that is slowly heating up. Smart frog.
The game is becoming more and more boring with the incorporation of newer monetisation options. P2W all the way and the requirement for skill/strategy is close to zero.

Sorry to see a player go, but can relate to your sentiments. In fact, I’ve been wrestling with my own dissatisfaction with the game recently.
The Ravana-Titan meta has really soured the game for me. One can only take being bug-zapped from 600 meters away for so long. I suspect the Ravana and damage resistant bots are setting us up for Pix’s next “cure” which I’m confident will not work to our favor.
The alterations to the pilot system could have been the nail in the coffin for me. I’d finally purchased (Au) Poe for my Ravana after the changes, dumping about 10k in gold into skills. That showed me the future of War Robots. Most of the fun for me has been experimenting with bots and their builds. That’s getting cost prohibitive.
Again. Sorry to see you go. I’ve enjoyed your contributions to the community here.
Godspeed.

Cheers Doc.
I feel you on the nostalgia. Im have not quit 100% just yet, but i have been on an indefinite break. Find some new game that can fill that void of unfiltered FUN that doesnt have nonstop frustrations.
I have been playing Fallout 4 on PC, Ultra settings to file that void and having a blast. The base game has SO SO much to do, its been a fantastic break.
I hope you find that kind of fun once again! Cheers and hope life treats you well!

Yup... acethunder was a gem... he is definitely a skill vs power type gamer and if you check his channel out he has put out a bit more content. I don't even care what he is talking about tbh... he is like David Attenborough, he can just calm a room if his vid is playing, without saying anything important. But yeah, his breakdown of whatever dynamic he is talking about in a game, is spot on.

Forgive the hijack... but I LOVE FO4 even with its flaws... I was just thinking about firing that up again when my SO goes to visit her mother for a few weeks, starting this weekend... I actually FEEL some of the moments of that game... rising a crest and seeing a new area with that epic soundtrack that shifts what's playing in such an organic way, I still remember the first time I looked upon Downtown Boston during a sunrise and just soaked up the environment with that epic soundtrack moment, timing perfectly with the reveal... THE FEELS MAN! THE FEEEELS! Shame '76 was such crap... the Appalachians have so much potential for an ACTUAL story... FO was just never meant to be a Multiplayer game.
