Orkans? A poor mans’ Cryos Igniter? Takes too long Scorpion is hit and ruuuuuuunnnnn! So for me, get in - discharge quickly - then get the hell out of Dodge. That’s what my wife says I do anyway....

I used a Blaze on mine for a little bit. Flamers don't discharge their weaponry fast enough for my tastes.
I think it's very tempting for a Scorpion driver to stick around too long, anyway. Weapons that are slow to fire only add to that issue.

As the others said, Scorpion is best armed with weapons that unload quickly. Cryo + Rime, Storm + Gusst, Storm + Halo, or Corona + Halo would be optimal. Ideally, you don't stick around your target bot/locaion for long. Get in/get out is the name of the Scorpion's game.

I tried Igniter/Halo for a lil bit, ok results. Moved to Storm/Halo with shot grouping, better results. My issue with Storm/Halo setup, if bot has Phase shift, I have busted my load and need teleport back or try to take beacon with slow shots. I am running igniters/rime now and I love the results. the flames eat thru physical shields and the rime slows them way down. Also, if need be, this setup gives me a chance to fight for a beacon. Finally, changing freakin pilot skills is a female dog, dont have the gold for all that.

I had that exact set up, cryo/rime/orkan and worked fine imo. It’s a hit and run so anything with a quick burst and bolt is good. Was only until I got another cryo. Now I run 1 with cryo/rime and the other storm/halo. Personally I prefer the cryo set up.

has anyone tried it w/ atomizer quarker, as seen here: Yeah it sucks. Doesn’t hit hard enough before you need to teleport back. That was with 1/8 Atomizer/Quarker Maybe I should give it another shot ?

My issue with Storm/Halo setup, if bot has Phase shift, I have busted my load and need teleport back or try to take beacon with slow shots. The issue is tactics, not the weapon. When using a Scorpion, you need to be aware of what you're fighting and watch for what they're doing. Attack Spectres, Leeches, and AJs after their abilities run out. You have less ability to see what people are using for active modules, obviously, but by making wise choices of your targets that's generally moot.
I recommend targeting mechs that are ~1/2 dead and those with no Last Stand as a baseline. If you pair either of those facts along with an easier mech type (no Ravanas, Phantoms can also be a real pain) you can really rack up damage and kills most of the time.
Also, if need be, this setup gives me a chance to fight for a beacon. You're using the wrong mech for that type of fighting. It's a glass cannon pretty much any way you slice it. You might as well be using a Ferrari in a tractor pull.

Folks are getting a lil more aware of the field in higher Champ league. I teleport = they phase after a couple of shots, with my current setup, I can wait it out and in most cases kill my target. Also, this is my weakest bot, thus my 1st drop. So i see a lot of Phantoms, Striders, [Nightingales], and Ravs in that 1st wave. Need to be able to bang it out for a beacon occasionally.

I think you have a combination of bad luck and potential bad choice of target. I rarely get hosed by PS when I teleport in. If I do (like getting a Ravana), I take a few shots and get back out immediately. Don't try to wait out PS.
As for using it as your first bot, don't. Use something else. Just because your knife is flat doesn't make it a good screwdriver. Stop trying to cram an octagon into a round hole. You're just setting yourself up for frustration and a lack of success.

I have to some times destroy this bot, because I sometimes need to switch to stronger bot for beacon capping/holding and pushing forward. I typically get about 2-3 kills with this setup. No frustrations over here and plenty of success.

I largely agree with not using it as a first drop. Yesterday I decide to do it on 3 battles, and was surprised how well it did actually. On 2 I got a Godlike before being taken out, and it really disrupted the Red's beacon-capping plans. Admittedly the MM was a bit on my side luckily. Would normally not recommend as a first drop, but sometimes you get fed up with same old, same old, and yes, you might get lucky. Very good advice about picking your target! Try to understand who is running what, when abilities are running out, and go for those with no Last Stand, or just a level 1.
