With Quarkers sitting in my storage, I wondered if I should replace some Magnums on my Blitz. So I ran a simulation. Target was a Falcon, which has one of the smaller frames I believe. Weapons were level 5. I adjusted the DPS to correct the Falcon DR, so when I measured 1000 DPS I adjusted to 2500 (60% DR). For Quarkers, I measured DPS in 3 phases: First 3 seconds of firing (most accurate phase), seconds 4 to 10 (medium accuracy) and past 10 seconds (overheated).
Magnum had 2300 DPS.
At 320m (near optimum range for Magnums), Quarker had 4380 for the first 3 seconds, 3471 for the next 7 seconds, and then 490 for the overheat phase. At 100m, Quarker was 4500 for both the first 3 seconds and the 7 seconds after that. In overheat, DPS were 2300.
I'd say that makes Quarkers fairly viable now. They can be played a bit like shotguns from a distance (stop firing to have them cool down), and have the range advantage and almost twice the burst damage. At point blank range they consistently outperform Mags, even in overheat. Of course you need a bit of firing control, from a range you must make sure to avoid overheating.
Probably not ideal to mix Quarkers and Magnums. But then, you can't have everything And the next event may drop another Quarker or two. As I find my Blitz fairly often in a dogfight for a beacon, it would certainly profit from additional DPS. And I love to have variable range builds (like Scourges). Guess a level 9 Quarker would outperform a 2.4 Magnum, a level 10 Quarker a 2.12 Magnum.

Interesting. Of course, all of my Magnums are already 2.12...if I get another Quarker, though, I might mount the two along with a Nucleon on my Hades.

I have one Mag at 2.12, two at 2.4, one at 2.1 (ran a Rime in this slot for a long time). But the prospect of greater range alone makes a swap interesting. Might level 2 Quarkers to 8 or something and give it a try

With Mags at 5.4k DPS and Quarker at estimated 10.1k, Quarkers have 100% hit rate from 320m in the first 5 seconds, giving them almost twice the power of a Mag. In the next 5 seconds, hit rate drops to 70%. Once overheated, they become useless as almost 90% of the shots miss.
Pretty sweet if you go against Ravanas, where you have built in cooldown phases...

And that's the main benefit to these new weapons now that Ravanas are everywhere. I'm contemplating Nucleons on my Bulwark now just to keep the relentless pressure up on Ravanas that try to get up close and personal.
