So yesterday we group ranted about blights, it occurred to me that maybe we could talk about the good ol' days and/or the best thing/weapn/bot that Pix has come up with. Again, I'm new-ish so your observations will be enlightening I'm sure. DOM/BR/FFA? Titans? Tasers? Loki? Nightingale? Thermites? (oops nope, sorry @withnailer) Spectres? A particular map like Castle/Rome? Invader? -- I have to admit, I thought Loki would be a disaster but it adds this YEAH! or OH CRAP! to a match that I wasn't quite expecting. They are a great counter, sometimes, to the mammoth Titans. --Believe it or not, Zenits drew me to this game like a moth to a flame. It's so rare that a shooter game has indirect fire. I wish Pix would address artillery again. Maybe have Super Zenits as a built-in weapon on a Titan that would do maybe 3 times the damage and have a reasonable large blast radius? Don't be a hater, I haven't used Zenits in over a year... Have a great Friday, wherever you are in the world.

While the new hangar is visually very distracting, I do like how you can semi rotate now to get different angles on all your bots.

I liked the first OP. Very good content. Been kind of downhill since but then I do appreciate the Pt that the last few contained. Overall to me OP’s have been a good value but a declining good value.

This thread was a good idea.
I have lots of great memories of this game; some of them actually happened. (Stole that from Mark Twain.)
I couldn't possibly say Thermites are the best thing about the game. Not when Vortexes exist. How could one pick between them? Vortex Kumi is the pinnacle of War Robots. Speed, looks (have a look at Vortexes on default skin Kumi ... and then weep with awe), firepower, exciting damage odds (will that hit register? Who knows?!), and FUN.
Gaaaah I took your yummy yummy bait.
First bot I maxed was a Golem (with the red gnarly paint job, with level 10 Thunder, Storm and Gust. I LOVED that bot. The game was a lot slower (but no less frantic, if you get me) at that time, and Golem could creep its way up to reds or just beacon drop right in their faces. I remember stripping Lancelots to pieces and everything. Second bot, but no less fun was my Trident Fury. MK II the Tridents and would have such a blast. The splash radius was considerable then. I got so good at anticipating things that I could smash up Kumis as they dashed. My Aphid Patton. Firing each salvo off consecutively. MMMMMMMM.
I could go.
Bot-wise, I never had a real problem with the dashes. I know they are reviled by some, but I think Haechi (if I recall it had 3 dashes at once?) with Orkans (pre-nerf) was the perfect bot. Not any more, but back when I finally got my grubby hands on it, I think that was the high point of my playing experience (to date).

Things I like(d):
Balanced and/or skill bots like Rayker, Strider, Hover, Tyr, Mender, etc.
When they balanced the Punisher family and added the speed up.
Before the backpedaling "fix", the era of the Camelot bots was great fun for me.
Tempest.
The Wild West bots were fun before the Dash Era was introduced, and stayed at least niche level of fun until the Spectre and ST arrived.
The Giant Death Ostricth vs mini Raijins Skirmish was a blast.
Prolly more but this has been off the cuff with little thought.
IMO, YMMV

Lock down weapons got nerfed into the dirt! Hooray! Yeah... let me try to take a spin on this. After lockdown weapons were released in a state so OP that really everyone needed to shell out currency to get entire hangars full of them in order to compete, Oinksonic once again delivered a bait and switch maneuver to make players buy the next OP thing. Of course only after most had also acquired the anticontrol module.... But, in the case of the lockdown nerf... and only for this once ... I am not complaining (even though I could cause it’s the rants section) ?.

And I am still running some of these bots in Champions League, cause WTH, the game gotta be fun not won, right?

Not only would it be an effective Ao Ming counter, but just seeing the rockets explode around the Ao Ming...visually, that would be awesome! And while they're at it, do the same for Noricums and then add a medium equivalent to the game.

Especially with Vortexes, I think Kumi is beautiful.
Possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
Have you seen it with Vortexes? You may well change your opinion.

It has been brought up and over and over in the ugliest bot threads since 2017. The nickname around here is Tangerine Chicken.

So to be exact, almost universal on these threads (and restricted to those who took part in the threads you mentioned ... and not taking into account the same people commenting on subsequent threads etc,) I get your general point, though. While my point on subjectivity stands, that nickname might be revealing ...
I love tangerines, and I absolutely love chickens. Tangerine Chicken gives me goosebumps.
Tangerines, chickens and Vortexes. That's just about perfect.

Played a TDM match earlier with randoms and we all kind of clicked, especially the Nightengale who picked on my Phantom play style and was ready with the healing when I needed it most. I think my bot - first drop too - lasted something like half the game. It was nice experiencing coordination like that. We crushed Reds even with a tanker/fader on our team.
