Flamethrowers and Champions!

I'm in low champs and only ever see someone below expert if they are in a squad with someone higher than them.

That shouldn't be happening. The only time I see diamond players (me being in champion) is when they're in a squad. Otherwise, it's never.

Are you on Steam? This happens to me every day. Probably 8 out of 10 matches have both Champion and Diamond players in the same match. The teams are usually balanced, but that doesn't' make it fun for us Diamond players who die in 2-3 seconds while needing 2-3 minutes to return the favor.  I have noticed that time of day affects it slightly. In the afternoon I almost never see a low power match in my range, but after midnight I frequently get a streak of 4-5 matches that feel fair.

And to the point of your post. Pretty much all these bots with built in weapons like Dragon Breath, Dragon Fangs, and Retribution which seems to be much stronger than a matching add-on equivalent ... are super annoying.

Not to mention that flame throwers on FB are bugged. Insta-fried.

I think it would have been interesting if Pixonic had required 4-5 pilots to use a Titan where pilots ejecting from a regular bot loaded up into the Titan the way Voltron had multiple pilots. Then to keep people from just ejecting five times in a row, require a minimum of damage (based on league) from each pilot before they could eject manually.  Of course that would also mean you can't use a Titan if you don't have pilots in most of your bots.

Not to mention 2-3 bots to do it in those minutes.
Alas, the funniest thing about this thread was that after I posted it, I actually had two matches where I was the top ranked player at Diamond 3--I felt bad for the Silvers because I was doing to them what the Champs do to me.

Not their (our) fault. Blame the MM.
Btw, I haven't even faced against an expert player for sometime now. How come are you matched against so many champion players so often? The MM must really be ficked up for you. I hope you find your peace with it as it seems no solution will ever come from pix.

But seriously, if I am not using timed boosts, I typically stay in and watch what they do, how they do, because eventually I will have the bots and upgrades and I would like to then destroy those who destroyed me, if I can. You grow best when you're challenged.

I have been thinking a lot about these flamethrowers (especially now that I finally got my first Ao Jun through pieces), probably more than is healthy. I was thinking about another robot game that shall remain nameless, and I was wondering if some kind of passive module could be fun that absorbs 5% of heat damage (or if you want to make a batch of them, different styles of damage like fire, corrosion, energy, just not kinetic). Has this idea been floated? Would it be too easy to abuse? I would not suggest it be stacking like some other modules--five percent per type, not having 5/10/15 possible. Just 5% for heat damage (and 5% for corrosion, and maybe if you're feeling it, 5% for something else). Would that be just too insane or balanced enough because it would require a module spot and you've only three passives to give, right?
