Define viable ?
a) dominates the battlefield like a plasma Ming
b) can hold its own in the battlefield
c) doesn't get wrecked less than 2min when played by a mediocre player
d) you get the idea...
What do you expect your Fury to do in Champions League?

A Fury most certainly can be viable in Champions League provided you know how to play it properly and have equipped it with the right weapons. From my experience wit Furies, they make very good midrange/long range fighters if they're equipped with high damage weapons like Dragoons for midrange and Flux for long range. In maps like Canyon, I've seen Furies lockdown entire parts of the map by playing a strong midrange game. If you want to play a Fury and have weapons like Dragoons ready for it, then go on ahead. It won't disappoint you provided you don't play it like an idiot and stick to its strengths. I recommend Dragoons for the Fury, as I've seen them to be used very effectively by other Fury players. Haven't seen too many Avenger Furies out there, but if you manage to get into close range with them, you should be able to shred enemies pretty quick. Main problem with this build is that you need to get close, which is not an easy task with the Fury being pretty slow. Haven't faced a Calamity Fury, so no clue about those. Have seen some Tempest Furies, and they do a fine job at giving support fire. I don't think they are a bad build per say, but I think Dragoon Furies are scarier. FYI, Avengers are the cheapest to upgrade (in this list), followed by Tempests, and Dragoon & Calamity are equal in price.

I would not recommend Fury at all. While in rare situations and with a good range build, it can be alright; it's a liability on the battle field when you get to champs, and a bot you would want to quickly replace. It has no speed, is a big target, and has no defense against all other champ level bots. It can't get beacons. It can't defend beacons. You have to rely heavily on your teammates to keep reds off you which is almost impossible in todays meta. And it's only going to get harder with Scorpion right around the corner. You're better off using your time and resources elsewhere.

I still use my 3x 1.11 Temp and 1.11 Fury in TDM to good effect against all comers. AMs particularly. Even Arthurs lose shields with a bit of determination.
Scorpion is a possible wild card but overall, I plan on still using it when I play TDM. With Lockdown Ammo, Basil, and 3x NRs it is a damn good option on maps with longer shooting lanes. It can brawl for short times against some opponents, too.
I would prefer a non-T Falcon for 3x Dragoons... personally. That said, they are pretty good for MR support in most situations... even on a Fury. Gotta learn the best places to use cover and when to move, but it can help. I am NOT saying a Fury will do fine in all matches, especially against mostly META upper Champions League matches. However, in lower Champions League it still rocks various Red Mechs with pure gunship awesomeness. Sometimes just having the range and Lockdown Ammo makes it work.
I will add that I already had Temps leveled to 1.9 and a 1.10 Fury ready to go once I decided to do this... I don't know that I would have built it from scratch unless I cared less about winning and more about playing, and enjoyed playing it. (Which, is exactly what happened in my case, just not from scratch)
IMO, YMMV
