Didn’t ask for any sympathy, just offered a reason why you see duos. And matchmaking has nothing to do with the player who camps the corner in Shenzhen, rather than trying to get the beacon, or the players who won’t step foot in the center on yamentau. Players who leave the circle rather than fighting in it. Use their abilities at inopportune times leaving them in bad situations otherwise. Matchmaking sucks for everyone, period. Everyone is trying to win. So if I’m with someone else who knows how to play, there’s a better chance of that happening. I’m not playing for stats, those just happen. But to place the blame solely on matchmaking is not the answer. Poor play contributes way more. As per HappyFunBall’s analysis: Yeah MM should take most of the blame. The higher you go, the crappier blues you get. Enjoy

Matchmaking gives you players with low cups. Yes they are weaker, there is no questioning that. But anyone in masters should know the things to do in order to try and win. Matchmaking has no control over players doing or not doing that. Unless it somehow finds low level players that are also bad at beacon games and pairs them with high champs. Again, matchmaking is bad but it’s bad for everyone; high and low. Everyone is looking for good games and the chance to win. Having a duo partner gives you that chance...

Soloing is a 「fluffernutter」ing joke in this game as long as pixonic continues to use their match maker as a money maker.

Even in the top clans these days not much is played. The online players in my clan rarely exceed 4/5. I do the duo often, but only for a matter of points for the clan. In a short time 500 clan points are made daily. Full squads almost never happen and 50% of the time other duo happen. We hardly ever get to deploy the Titan.

Seems people proved his point, the whole "we don't like stomping people, we want a real fight" Just isn't that accurate. It isn't a competitive game so it's fine, but don't pretend to be upholding the competitive spirit when you clearly aren't.
Whenever I play I certainly don't, I'll brutalize anything I see.
For actual competition I have better games I play, This game is just something I open every now and then to waste a couple minutes.

I’m in the same boat you are in, legend league most months and get the same horrendous matchmaking. Just want to offer the perspective that many of your teammates are young’ish children who shouldn’t be in masters at all. My kid is in masters with a level 7-9 hangar - he actually plays decently, but many are younger and don’t really know what to do. I see it as a matchmaking+players being pushed up the ranks way too quickly-problem.

Good because you sure as hell don't deserve any for dominating and doing more damage than your entire team combined or the top 3 spots on the red team combined but it is bad because your team also lost. Those sort of numbers in random play is a solid win. If not a "win" then it is a plus. A positive. An attaboy. A very good result. A duo would have just been overkill. Not one of you but two of you wrecking everything? Not needed or warranted. Leave some crumbs for the the other 5 players on your team to shoot at. Seriously, you did good with that result. You may think you needed a duo to turn that into a win but you did awesome for solo play. You dominated. A duo would just have been cruel and unusual punishment to your teammates.

Why the negative attitude towards Steel? What did he do to you except offer an explanation to why players from top clans run duos? Care to offer an explanation for why you’re being so insistent that a high damage loss is really a win?

I agree absolutely with everything steel with his fancy font has said. The higher you get, the worse it gets. I’m sitting in the top half of CL3 at a little over 16k cups for the month; Solo games are now a seemingly endless string of loses as a result of being teamed up with absolutely useless teammates in rubbish legacy bots. Still, I finish first (sometimes second) pretty much every time, collect a few more cups, and move on to the next mismatch. Occasionally matchmaker decides its time for me to win and get my win rate up to 20% so I get teamed up with even worse teammates against useless opposition, destroy them in 5 minutes, take all the Ag, get my 10 Au, 32 / 48 point win and begin the next string of points yielding but predictable loses. Duos or squadding is the only way to get a match where the result can’t be predicted 2 seconds after I drop my first bot, especially towards the end of the month, which is why duos on both sides become increasingly prevalent as the season winds up.

It is either everyone else that is the problem and are "bad teammates" or the pursuit of maxed meta has places a player into tiny player pool where the MM now has to team that player with weaker hangars (lower cups) to create a balanced match. This is why we see 17k cup players teamed up with Masters League and low Champions League teammates. It is because there is a direct correlation between hangar strength and cups you end up with one high cup player on a team with a vastly more powerful hangar that just dominates the match in damage dealt and kills win or lose because their hangar simply allows that to happen.
If this is a problem and you don't want to be placed with players like that and you want balanced games then don't build those hangars to those levela. Seems like a self induced problem to me. Stick to full death squads. Smash your randoms until you face other full squads.
Duos are kind of cheating IMO because you can duo and still dominate randoms while only occasionaly facing other duos and avoiding full squads. If you run a weak hangar then I can see the appeal but what is point when you already run maxed meta and curbstomp as it is? You want to have a pal curbstomping 5k cup randoms along with you and to ensure a win at all costs? Does it speed up the process of finding a balanced match after a curbstomping session? When I duo I face the same level of opponents as I do in solo play but that's my experience.

When I duo I face the same level of opponents as I do in solo play but that's my experience. You’re overlooking at least one or two very important metrics here. Cups are NOT directly correlated with hanger strength. Cups result from a combination of hanger strength, player ability, and number of games played. That’s why despite having nothing over Mk1.12 I’m in the top half of CL3 - my very average hanger x a bit of skill and cunning x playing quite a bit. And if I’m finishing pretty much every match 1st or 2nd, regardless of the overall result (ie I’m pulling my weight) who else other than teammates should be blamed for the loss? You’re also failing to grasp why people squad / duo once they reach higher levels - it’s the only way to get more balanced / tighter matches, and given your preference for legacy bots and hanging out in lower leagues you’ll just have to take our word for that fella. At the end of the day most players prefer tight, exciting matches - it’d be nice if the matchmaking algorithm delivered that more often, but it doesn’t, so blaming players for using meta or near-meta bots and running duos is to misunderstand both the mechanics of the game you’re playing and the motivations of those who do.

Most duo matches (at least for high champion players) are actual good matches. A fair amount are really hard. Plus, duos run into other duos regularly so that increases the challenge. As I said in my initial post, if I had 1 competent teammate in that match, I could have won or at least had a good game. I can’t successfully defend 3 beacons by myself, but I can with help. Clan mates understand staying on beacons to defend, pushing, ditching a bot to save a beacon. Have battlefield awareness. I ran duos in my previous clan, when my hangar wasn’t as strong with the same results. The only people that are looking to seal club are tankers, not sure why everyone with a strong hangar gets lumped into that category... Absolutely. The most enjoyable way of playing this game for me by far. The reason are very accurately stated. Sadly, though, there are some players that do enjoy seal clubbing, just for the sake of it.

Dom is a much better solo game mode Dom is ‘better’ from the standpoint that solo you can control beacons a little better by yourself (map depending). But even there, there are too many players that simply don’t know how to play beacon modes. Too many games like this nothing to do with damage or kills, but that I have more beacons than the rest of my team combined. I have several just like this in the 10 beacon min thread (win and loss). And that is truly the biggest problem. There’s an awesome guide out there from JFSoul and linearblade about knowing your role. https://www.reddit.com/r/walkingwarrobots/comments/fdubxe/know_your_role_tips_for_masters_champ_players/ It really changed my whole outlook on how I played (when my hangar was weaker). I studied and researched as much as I could to make me a better player, along with grinding to make my hangar stronger. Matchmaking is super frustrating solo, the balancing by cups method is idiotic. But sometimes I have 2 choices, play solo or don’t play. So I go solo. But if I had a choice, you better believe I’d be in a duo or full squad all the time, every time. Being together with my clan mates is what makes this game what it is to me. I like the game but I love the community and friendship that I’ve found here. High champ duos aren’t easy and anyone who’s played them know that’s a fact they are challenging and almost everything you’re looking for when you’re playing

Dear Forumers, in my opinion, a lot of useless/morons M league players have tried their best to defend/catch beacons or kill Reds. Unfortunately, those M league useless/morons' level 1.7/8/9 Griff/Natty/Leo evaporated in the 1'st or 2'nd beacons when they meet the almighty 2.12 Ravana + 2.12 Storm/Cyro/Igniter + maxed pilot + maxed modules.
Yup, what a bunch of useless/moron/「smart person」 players, just make us keep losing the game.
Just grind 24 hours/day, 7 days/week or sell your kidney to maxed the Ao Ming so you can help the team to win, you dumb useless moron.
Dear Mods, sorry for ranting but those dumb 「bum-bum」 moron stupid useless Master league players are too much.

Bots and equipment aren’t the true problem. I’m not saying that low level players aren’t going to get smashed by maxed stuff, but you still gotta know how to play effectively regardless of meta or not, there’s a good bit of green in this hangar. All they brought to this match was honor boosters

Taking a break from the game and clan life, but I found solo life more challenging. If you are not having fun and accepting that there are folks out there with maxed everything, you need to stop playing. You get a box of chocolates and sometimes you get one possible two teammates that actually know how to play BR. I take great join in beating a duo, especially when it comes down to wire. If i have to do the heavy lifting for my squad, then so be it.

the problem is that when you play a lot of duo the win rate rises above 80/90%, so when you play alone to bring it down they put you in team with leo and Natasha. You then get nervous because the basic dynamics of the game are missing and you only play in duo or team

When you have 17k cups and MM populates your match with Masters League and 5K cup Champions League players just dominate and move on. You are already at an enormous advantage. There is no need to squad.

war-robots-forum.freeforums.net/post/591893/threadSee... MM is the problem. Why don't the Masters League and LOW Champions League players play together and everyone above say... 7500 cups or so... play together? I am fairly certain that folks would deal with 30 - 60 second Matching instead of this horrible spread.

Matchmaking queue is now usually 2-5 seconds - I’d gladly wait five times as long, if mm could give me the highest 20% as reds and blues. High champs would get challenging games while low champs and masters wouldn’t as often be manhandled by maxed players. The latter group wouldn’t even have to wait much longer.
